We have taken a Toshiba EStudio 2505 AC back for lease return and the salesperson promised a HDD wipe with certificate. Is this something the Toshiba can do? And how?
Thanks for any help possible.

The simplest way to wipe all user data on that series of copier is to log in as admin from the control panel and choose Factory Default. This will restore the copier to factory default and wipe all saved information (address book, network info, etc). This is not a forensic level wipe so I suppose there's always a chance data could be recovered by a clever person. However, these copiers came standard with Wipe technology HDD's which can only be read by the copier they are attached to - so I personally wouldn't be too concerned about it. But if you're dealing with high level military secrets or something similar then you'll need to take further precautions.
Regarding the certificate, as far as I know there is no function on the copier that will print out a certificate declaring the wiping of the HDD. I would assume the dealer means they will create a certificate to give to you that guarantees they have wiped all data before returning to leasing company.
Why does every customer think they're the first one to ever say: "you've been here so much we should get you an office, ha, ha, ha"?
Hytec will sell you a replacement drive and give you all the necessary certificates for the customers drives data destruction.
It's called Hytec Drive secure and it's expensive enough that the flyer dosn't list prices...
Thank you, HDD wiped worked but they are looking for a certificate. The ops manager is now looking into the HYTEC solution, but that seems to come with a possible new set of challenges.
Well, salespeople promise shit that are impossible and we are suppose to deal with it. Now someone got me to format the HDD from doing the HOME/START to get into service mode. I am suppose to make it usable by installing firmware, but it is not working. Keeps saying Update data folder is not found on USB device.
