    Toshiba e-studio 5540 again...

Still working on a 5540c se that I bought cheap.

Was getting C3A0 error. Auto-toner sensor-M abnormality (upper limit).
Got this error on other colors when I tried to clean stuff.

The machine has been in storage for 4 years and then transported to my location. The developer had clumped together and didn’t look good.

Replaced the developer powder. Got the alternative from AAAtoner as it was much cheaper than the original and I wasn’t prepared to spend $1600 or more it wasn’t a developer problem.

Got it running fine after replacing the developer.

Then suddenly it started smearing with black color. Typical for drum cleaner or transfer cleaner belt needing replacing. Replaced all of them.

Then I got back to C3A0…

Have cleaned everything and even replaced the corona grid on magenta as this was mentioned as a potential problem.

    Still no luck.

Im able to make ONE print with 04-270. The page is pink all the way.

    Any ideas?
Is it a developer or drum assembly issue?

As you can see, cyan isn’t feeling so happy either.

    Is the machine trash?

You likely have a charge/bias leakage issue (developer, main charge, transfer) that is causing the backgrounding and stripping developer material out of the dev tank (the stripping in the cyan colour suggests it is also losing dev material).

I would go through all of the main charge assemblies for each drum and disassemble and clean them as thoroughly as you can, replace any grids that look suspect (in a pinch you can clean them with acetone if they are not too badly corroded).

There was also a common issue with this series where the end terminal block on each TR1 roller inside the transfer belt assembly would crack causing either leakage of current or causing the TR1 roller to get stuck in the down position.
No, I will not send you Manuals, Software or your own little repair Genie to fix all your problems for you.

I find it curious that you're condemning the machine, when you've used generic supplies. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
