Cool Xerox Docucolor 250 and 5000 Toner

I recieve an info from a xerox tech that the toners inks of xerox docucolor 250 and 5000 are the same but are for different target and prices.

I see the cartridge and the two are similar, the product price are similar too but the box for 5000 come with two toners this make the price half.

    Some have info abut this.

    Thanks

    Alfredo

Actually that is the same question I have. The architecture for the Xerographic subsystem is the same for Dc250 and 5000, but I have been told that the 5000 uses oil in the fuser. The next week I will get some toner for 5000 and I will test it in DC250. If somebody knows any problem doing this, please let me know. If not I will let you know what happens...

The toner for the 2045/2060/5252/6060/7000/8000 is exactly the same the only difference is that the 7000/8000 is chipped for usage. That keeps you from reusing the cartridges by refilling. I don't know about the 5000 toner being the same.

Pls be careful about this toner substitution business, i once ran out of DC252 toner and refilled with 2060....it seemed to work initially but after a short run i started getting paper badly jamming in the fuser, cos heat roll could not adequately melt the toner. I almost lost a fuser and had to change dev materials in the two dev modules i refilled, viz yel and mag in order to flush the xero system of the 2060 toner before the machine recovered.

Imperia and Pinhurst toner worked for my 252!!!....(free of charge):cool
