    Xerox work center 6515 customer forgot the password

    Hi guys, the customer said he has this machine and no one else is using it. said he never set the password. and now it tells him to enter a password.

    is this a setting i can reset in service mode??

    been a while that i checked on the Xerox resets. other brands i can enter service and either get the password or reset it. others require Xerox to come out i think and do the reset after verifying the user actually owns the thing.


    any advice would be great.

    Reset




    • Run the Admin Password Reset Tool.
    • Enter the serial number of the device with no
      punctuation or spaces.
    • Enter the total page count from the
      device.
    • Press Calculate.
    • Note the 12 digit reset code


      Open the RESET.PJL file in notepad to enter the 12
      Digit reset code.




    Then


    • Enter the 12 digit reset code, replace the “XXXXXXXXXXXX” with the actual
      code.


    • Run the DirectPrint Utility
    • Select the Reset.PJL file where you saved it to on your computer by clicking
      the “…” box next to filename
    • Enter the IP Address of the Machine in the field box under Printer/IP
    • Select Print


    • You will hear a job completed tone at the device. Then see changes are being
      made.
    • This only takes a few seconds. If the UI screen is hung on changes being
      made, hold the power/wake button to shutdown the machine. Then power the machine
      back on using the power/wake button.
    • The Admin password
      should now be defaulted to ‘1111’. Use EWS and access the device to confirm.

    Don't work on Xerox, hope I never do. But if so, I want Richard.Xerox on speed dial. He is the man!

    It's normal. You must be an Xerox Global Technician with the software GSN Lock authorized to Xerox Secure Servers.

    Power Off, wait 10 minits.
    If pass was newer setup, the default pass is serial number, than you can change the pass.

    Dear Mr. xeroxsharp,

    I am no xerox technician, but I privately own a WC 6515.
    I thank you from the very depths of my heart!
    After the system hang, I installed the newest firmware witht the result, that the the old admin pw "1111" didn´t work anymore, which nearly drove me crazy. I was on the brink of thowing a perfectly fine device out of the window...but you saved my sanity and a 6515!
    This was the only place in the whole wide f****ng internet which gave me this clue and it was just in perfect time.

    I was having the same issue dame
    if I reset my Workcentre 6515 with admin password reset tool.

    i will try serial number as the password tonight and see if its working.

    i was planning to do a forced upgrade on special boot if you didint tell me that.
