I have enabled the ID Card Copy app for the main screen but its not showing up.. Is there a magic trick? Latest firmware is installed.... also the internet fax and server fax buttons don't show up when the buttons/apps are enabled...
I must be missing something.

I have no experience with the C8170 just yet, but where did you enable it? Via the web interface? A screen shot would be helpful.
Yes via the web interface... .in fact by default the "app" was set to on or show.... but does not show on the copiers home screen... neither do internet fax or the other one (forget the name) they all do on the older model (c8045 for example) the set looks identical for the most part but the button just doesnt come on the op panel.... but that did make me think of one thing via the op panel... will check/try that and report back.

Nope not needed... turns out... you have to add it to the screen via the customize function once logged in as admin via the op panel... you can then place the button... odd that they changed that from the prior generation device... was a bit of a head scratcher..... this applies to the internet fax function and others as well.
