Xerox Workcentre Pro C2636 - NVRAM Timekeeper Battery replacement

Hi everyone, just to make a short introduction, I'm trying to wake up a Xerox WCP C2636 that has been asleep for about ten years.
Now, to start from the end, is there a way to replace the yellow ST Snaphat Timekeeper battery without incurring in data loss, as I don't have a PWS?
    Mine measures 0,4 V and the datasheets report a 2,8 V.

The story behind is a bit longer. It is a copier that my dad bought in 2011 and hasn't been turned on since then and maybe even before. Recently, with the help of the huge service manual I discovered that the male/male USB-A cable was missing and bought that. Now on the display I have the error message that suggest to reboot the machine because of communication problems.
What I aim to is to get to determine if the machine is working, than bring it to servicing (general cleaning, check rubber rollers, provide new toner).

Is someone willing to share his experience with this process?
    Thank you all.

I expected that. I was hoping in something like an hot-swap with the machine turned on.

With 0,4 v on the battery data should still be there?
And if they're gone PWS procedure is still working?

Ok, thank you! This is good news.

I'll try to find a tech with pws in my area and get it done.
