WARNING: Xerox Toner - Damaged stock (Technical Bulletin)

    Location, Europe and UK

There are problems with batches of toner from Xerox. Any toner that was manufactured before 23rd February should be treated with caution.
These toner cartridges may contain larger particles which will cause damage to:
Developer, Image Drums, IBT Belt, IBT Cleaner blade.

    Visible issues:
large drum impact spots and head to tail streaking will appear on prints.

    Known Affected Machines
    Versant 80/180/280/2100/3100/4100

    * This is not official information from Xerox as of this post, hopefully another engineer will confirm this soon.

    [EDIT]
New information suggests that the problem started sometime at the end of 2020.

There is an official bulletin on this. Eureka tip #1463964

Investigation is ongoing, to determine the scope of the problem.

Solution is to replace consumables and perform a full toner delivery system clean.

Clean as follows: Toner Dispense, Developer Housing, Xerographic Drawer Area, ROS Windows, MOB Assy, IBT Cleaner, IBT Belt Assy, NOHAD ducts and finally, once machine powered on and run for a bit, then replace filters last

Re: WARNING: Xerox Toner - Damaged stock (Technical Bulletin)

    Hi all,

Regrettably I had to walk down this road and encountered this with one of our customers. We have had several others also reporting the same problem with drums being damaged from the toner.

    Hope this helps.

We have noticed a significant increase in drum usage too. I'm not saying anything more just yet, until I've been by to the various customers to collect the drums they have kept by for us.

Re: WARNING: Xerox Toner - Damaged stock (Technical Bulletin)

    Hi all,

If it's any consolation, on one site alone there was close to 10 damaged drums as a result of the contaminated toner. This pattern was observed around April-May of this year with various sites reporting replacing drums due to ~148mm dots from various stations causing the problem and the drums not reaching yield.
