    xerox color 560 / 77-129 jams

have a 560 that only jams 11x17 in the exit/invertor right side door when duplexing

paper tries to output to the finisher instead of going into the duplex unit

the weird thing is, this only happens in B&W, if they print in color the machine runs fine...very weird

let me know if you have any ideas.

    Thanks

    Re: xerox color 560 / 77-129 jams

    Hi MNTECH,

Here are a few suggestions that hopefully will help.

1.) Has the machine got Tag 50 installed (604K84600)?
2.) Has the machine got the Duplex Pulley with Bearings Innovators Kit installed (655N00525)?
3.) The paper path under tray 4, is that clear of foreign objects?

In my experience, I have seen a build up of bits of media from improperly removed jams stuck in the last item on the list.

    Hope this helps.

    Fixed!
Started getting the same jam code on 8.5x11 as well, replaced the inverter motor and everything is running good.

    Thanks!

Was still having problems, ended up being the solenoid that moves the idle rollers away while the paper is going down the inverter. I removed the damper pads that was causing the solenoid to stick and lubricated everything, working great now!

Very strange this only happens with B/W and not color, but apparently it's speed-related then?

I've had this exact same thing on several of machines all with the same basic engine design. A solenoid in your inverter/decurler is wearing out. It works in color and not B&W because the increased frequency of B&W printing is just enough to push it over the edge and it fails. The slower color print speed gives it more time to "rest" between prints and it works.

However, it is in fact dying... Soon enough, it will start failing on color as well as the solenoid continues to deteriorate.

    You'll need a new inverter/decurler.

If you are particularly handy, and have a spare, you can swap the solenoid. But you can't BUY just the solenoid, unfortunately. (Usually by the time the solenoid is failing, though, the non-stick rollers in the inverter/decurler are getting pretty skanky, though, so it isn't a bad idea to replace the whole thing.)

    Re: xerox color 560 / 77-129 jams

Had exactly the Same Problem on a Xerox 550 Machine this days. Only happens when printing b/w.
As said here, you dont get the Solenoid (there are 2, one you get, the one you need (121K34171) you dont..).

I took the Solenoid that pulls the 2 black idle Rollers out, cleaned it up, and put some lubricant inside, i also removed the old shock absorber material around the PIN the mooves, because it feels like glue if its old.
Cleaned the metalplate (had some rust on it) so the paper can pass smoothly.

For now it works like a charme, looking forward how long it holds =)

By the way, i tryed before to lubricate it without disasable it completly, that did not work at all.

    Maybe this helps some...
