    Xerox 7845 Print quality issue

    Please see attached. The printer had a black ink spill with overfilled waste toner container. Replaced waste toner container, drum unit, toner, cleaned the drum with the drum cleaner. The print was dirty originally but now its better but the grey color is very dirty. Havent tried to swap the fuser but it seems like it might be the problem. However, grey color is throwing me off. Why only 1 color is so dirty?

    You've definitely got to replace that black drum. The faint area on the page is affecting all colours, so you've got to be looking at secondary transfer, IBT, IBT cleaner or fuser.

    try swapping the black drum cartridge and cyan drum cartridge...

    see whether the problem switch to cyan color. If it is, then you need to replace the drum cartridge

    I can see you haven't change developer. if the black color is weak, then you need to change it.

    your problem is dirty image. Check the following:
    1. OPC drum / drum cartridge.
    2. Developer (usually white streaks, but in some cases it can be dots / toner particle)
    3. Laser print head (usually white lines)
    ================================================== =======
    most fuser problem is unfused toner. If you rub the text/image, the toner will stick to your hand.

    I'm also curious what causes with the faint area / at the bottom of the page...
    Probably old IBT.

    Dirty with toner built up primary transfer rollers. If cleaning looks like a job - just replace the transfer belt assy.

    Those washed-out areas and raindrop patterns are caused by excess toner build-up on the Transfer rollers inside the Belt Assembly. Replace the belt but remove all toner from the rollers first, usually by scraping and scotchbrite.

    Clean the rollers but do not scratch them as you will get permanent problem. I hate cleaning them as it is painful to my hand but it will fo the job if this is real problem in your case.

    Replaced the Transfer Belt assembly and Transfer belt cleaner and it resolved all these issues.
    Thank you all for your suggestions.

    If he replaced whole ITB assy and this problem was caused by metal rollers inside the belt then yes it should cure the problem.
