    Versant 2100 - Mid-sheet color registration issues

We've been having intermittent color registration issues with our Versant 2100. Colors come in and out of registration along the direction of travel at random intervals and in random places on a given sheet. An thoughts?

Check, clean or replace fuser belt encoder.
    Also check fuser belt

      Thank you for the response!

Cleaned the encoder sensor and replaced the fuser, but still having issues with different colors moving in and out of register at seemingly random intervals. Again, some sheets are perfectly fine while other sheets are up to 1/8th inch out of register either half the sheet or the whole sheet.

      A few questions:

      1) The black disk on the belt encoder assembly has about a quarter turn of play relative to the wheel. Is this normal or could this be my issue?

      2) I recently replaced the 2nd BTR roller with a metal version to help resist scratching. Any chance that's the source?

      3) IBT belt drive motor or roller?

There is too much slop in the encoder wheel.

            Hi,

I recently started having same issue in one Versant 2100 machine, color to color misregistration, it could start in the middle of the sheet, sometimes just the last 2 inches, during a run, it sometimes print several pages good, then started misregistering colors.

Problem was worst on heavy weight paper, then started doing it with text paper.

It worked for me cleaning the fuser encoder, it was covered with a black crust, wich I competely removed. As soon as I cleaned the problem went away.

Make sure you completle clean the encoder, basicly the orange wheel, hope this helps. I'm attaching image of the piece I'm refering to.

I know it's true, but it still boggles my mind how fuser speed can so cleanly affect color registration.

If you print on A3 or larger paper and on LE print is good and on TE you have color misregistration then fuser speed is main problem.
Fuser encoder measure and adjust fuser belt speed.
Ir fuser belt speed is faster then rest of machine fuser will pull out paper from 2nd btr and then IBT belt will also get speed mismatch and you will get color misregistration.
