    [Misc] Hot Fixing Drive Motor

    Hi Fellas,

    I had a E014-0001 today on a iRADV 8295 machine.

The fixing Drive Motor (M3 I believe) was really hot.

So I dismantled the fixing unit and replaced both fixing roller and pressure roller with new bushing and bearing and everything.

Replaced the Cleaning web - replaced main thermistor (FK2-7692) and the 2 sub thermistors.

Put everything back into the machine. Everything is fine, machine runs fine, NIP Check was perfect.

I did replace the Toner Filter and the Ozone Filter (the one in the back of machine).

I thought maybe airflow is not where it is supposed to be...

The problem is that the motor is still HOT.

    How about that ?

probably pushing too much current through it

how much constant volume are u pushing ?

have u checked outlet for proper neutral>to ground ??
should be in the low millivolt to zero range.

No I didn't make any measurements. Next time I will.

This machine is new arrival and it replaces an older model (running on the same physical outlets)

      Old building though.

Funny thing is that the motor is hot even when is not running copies

You have to check its temperature when its idle, because when copier its working in a closed and warm place, its so normal fuser motor gets hot. Remove cover where lever fuser/transfer unit its placed and check for the cooler if its stuck somewehere or maybe its not working. If everything is ok down there, check some plastic tubes closed to fuser unit. They are used to remove the heat from motor and outside fuser.
        For me, nothing to worry!

          Hi,

Have you tried to replace the fixing motor?

Yes it has heat even after 15 min.

I checked the null / ground / phase. Everything is fine.

motor stays hot with motor & printer both unplugged

now that seems impossible without any voltage being supplied to unit

Silly question , have you compared this machine to others in the field....a hot motor may be the norm...

To Teckat : When I said it has some heat - I meant cooler than its "hot state" - but still hot.

To Geo: That motor particularly (being close to fixing unit) will get some of the fixing heat, but I am talking "you cannot touch it for more than 5 sec - kinda heat"

I will order another motor and probably the relay board aswell.

                    Thnx!
