"You will need to get a certificate (purchase the kit). On the certificate is a web address and a product code. Go to the website input the product code, serial number and license string on the certificate. The web site will give you a code to enter into the machine. Additional functions/ then either scroll down to license management or it is under the admin settings. All of this is in the license kit."
The newer machines what Canon calls LMS, that is the certificate, the older machines use hardware, as stated above you need what they call a dongle, either a parallel or usb, in the us I have only seen parallel.
What happens is when you plug that dongel into the first machine you have to run through a series of stuff in order to get that u-send on that machine and when you are done it permenently writes the serial number of that machine to that dongel, hence it is not transferable. You would have to purchase another U-Send kit.
