e740-002 The LAN card is faulty. The main controller PCB is faulty. A MAC address is found to be faulty.

i never try using usb to parallel adapter to load firmware but using it for printing purpose it will run.

I think no, cause the original usb to parallel from Canon is a dedicatet tool (some crossed wire inside).
But I can be wrong as I've worked on this model years ago..

Did you already tried the internal ck disk from the service mode of the machine? It takes lots of time but I remember that sometimes it worked for me..but if the HD is bad...

Still

I tried to clone Hdd but it came with E602-004 and E602-001.
Does anyone have SST ver 4.42 and the latest firmware please..

E740 code on the copier LCD screen
The copier must have the new style Ethernet Board PCB (NIC) installed. If the copier's firmware (system software) is not up to date, an E740 code will be displayed when the new style NIC is installed in the copier.
Ethernet Board PCB (NIC):
Original Style - part number FG6-5964-000
Newer Style - part number FG6-9898-000
Newest Style - part number FM1-0196-000
With this new NIC, there are some newer firmware versions needed or the E740 code will still display. This NIC CANNOT be installed on the old style iR5000. Here are the versions needed for FM1-0196-000:

The new-type Ethernet board cannot be recognized when it is used with earlier versions of System
Software other than the following:

imageRUNNER 5000D/ 6000D: System Software Version 74.02 & BootROM Version 23.40 & later
imageRUNNER 5000i: System Software Version 44.02 & BootROM Version 23.40 & later
imageRUNNER 5020/ 5020i/ 6020/ 6020i: System Software Version 54.03 & BootROM Version 24.42 &
later-
Without these System Software & BootROM upgrades, a symptom of E740 will occur.
When replacing an old style Ethernet Board PCB on copiers with the new type Ethernet Board PCB or installing a new Multi PDL Printer Kit, please be sure to upgrade the System Software, and Boot-ROM to the above version levels or later respectively.
You will NOT have the ability to enter the IP Address and E740 code will occur if the
System Software & Boot-ROM are not upgraded to at least the specified versions above.

How to identify the old and new Ethernet Board PCB assemblies:
Either of the following part numbers is silk-screen printed on the PCB.
Old Part: FG3-1186*
New Part: FG3-3326*
* These part numbers are manufacturing numbers only and are NOT valid for ordering.

Pressing the Device Config. key causes the following version and device information to be indicated as in service mode:
- Main board version (part revision number of the Main Controller PCB)
- Controller version (MN-CONT/BOOT-ROM/DC-CON)
- Scanner version (R-CON/FEEDER)
- Finisher version (SORTER/SDL-STCH)
- Device information
