    Adjustment display on 5870

Happy New Year to all !

I have a small problem. My display have a problems with touch. All positon have starting 2cm left and 2 cm down and when I try to enter in service mode and adjust then I cant because copy button is out from touch area. Is it possible to reset the display position, or I must re-instal SW? Im check all conectors and how I see all is OK. Tnx

    try this first--------

    power off>unplug>remove memory>clean ends>re-seat>plug in>power up

    go in service mode>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

    COPIER>FUNCTION>PANEL
TOUCHCHK = Use it to adjust the coordinates of the analog touch panel.
    Method of Operation
    - use it to match the points of press on the touch panel and the coordinates of the LCD.
    - perform this service mode if you have replaced the LCD.
    1) Select 'TOUCH CHK' to highlight, and press the OK key.
    2) Press the symbol '+' appearing on the touch panel in sequence (9 points) to end the adjustment

Can this fault be cured with a firmware update?
You probably need a new touch panel FK2-0246-000 ANALOG TOUCH PANEL UNIT

Updating sw/firmware is probably a waste of valuable time. Try tekcats advice and if problem persists....a new touchscreen will almost certainly do the trick.

I have a IR 550 that I cannot reset an E-000 code because I can't get the function to work. AND I can't get the Function to work to get to TOUCH CHK.

When you say remove memory, is it memory in display panel, on the main board or under the glass?

The calibration is bad. I can get into sevice mode. Then hit Copier about 1/2 inch about the word copier. Now all of the tabs across the top will not activate because logically you have to hit a half inch above them and you can't. They are at the top of the screen.

I played on this today for 30 minutes. The web got dragged in and blocked thermistor. I fixed that but just need to get the code reset.

Had that happen to me on 5570, while helping out of territory, Had to replace display before, being able to clear code.
One more trip downtown to pay $18 per hour parking, ouch, so i used a refurb control panel assembly to speed the process.

I can just imagine the Canon engineers sitting across the lunchroom table:

"Wouldn't it be funny if we put access to the touchsceen calibration only available through selection on the touchscreen? That way field techs can gnash their teeth looking at the button on the touchscreen that won't work."

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
