E302-0001 refers to Front side scanning
I think there is a break in your flex cable which shows up when scanner reaches the slide read position
    Go Level 2> Function> System> RCON Backup,
    Make P Print
    Do RCON clear
    Level 2 Function> System > RCON Restore
Not all values are restored so:
Input RCon values. from P PRINT

    If the problem persists:
1 reseat flex cable from Reader Controller to Scanner unit in the READER
2 One of these has a problem ( Reader Controller, Scanner Unit, or Flex Cable) ALL in The READER

E302-0101 refers to the same parts in DF (backside scanner)

When you lift the adf the cover in the back side behind the large glass you have to take off to take the connectors out has the factory settings under it. After you clean the glass in the scanner do a

        Level 1> Copier>Function>CCD

        DF-WLVL1=1 Ok
        DF-WLVL1=2 Ok
        DF-WLVL1=LNR=1 Ok

        DF-WLVL1=3 Ok
        DF-WLVL1=4 Ok
        BW-TGT

I checked, the e302-0001 is for the scanner under the glass. There are other codes for codes of the scanner for back side in the adf. I don't clean that glass every call so it can get very dirty in a dirty environment. 30 years ago it was minimum call to clean scanner mirrors. For those settings clean white paper goes through the doc feeder and one setting on the glass. I put a piece of letter paper on the glass and one in the doc feeder and then run the settings.

          This is what I got:

          DF-WLVL1=1 Ok
          DF-WLVL1=2 NG!
          DF-WLVL1=LNR=1 Ok

          DF-WLVL1=3 Ok
          DF-WLVL1=4 NG!
          BW-TGT = OK

          What should I do?

          Thanks!

clean the mirror in the scanner. Replace scanner and/or cable. Has to be that or board.

check the lamp strips on the reader unit, ensure that both are getting power or lighting up / properly conected .
