how do you know its failed? there is more to it than just changing it.
you need to reinstall system software and then re input all values to make print again, after you install new drive. Is that what you are asking or do you want to know where is the hard drive located?

i cant remember if the board needs replaced or the hard drive. If you replace the hard drive, if it was bad, then the setup screen should come up instead of wait. then go into download mode and upload the system software using pdl downloader . you have chosen not to receive private messages so i cannot direct you to the download site without everybody seeing it.

It's a pain changing a HDD in an iR400 due to having to reload the rip software and hope that the rip still works the way it should.

Use you software to open disk in physical mode. Save the raw data of first 300MB should be OK.(Sector 0 to 600,000). You need to refer to your software help menu for exact step of how to copy physical data.

My friend. This thread is for canon ir 400 printerborad hard disk is fail. It
sounds like you have a copy quality issue. Perhaps you can check your optics and make sure that there clean. or replace the drum for that copy quality issue.

not here/
