C6500 issues with fixing on thick paper

Hello guys,

I am having problem with a C6500 fixing on thick paper. I'm pretty sure it is the paper to blame. The issues appears only when the images need a lot of toner to realize it (brown earth like colors). One more thing: usually the first print looks ok, the toner is fixed on the paper, but starting with second or third copy, the problems occur. I already modify the software switches for maximum humidity, environment, etc but the problems stay.
Am I missing something?

Does this happens on other types of paper stock or other thickness of paper and have you change the paper settings for that tray to thick paper to the highest thickness?

Usually it happens on 300 g paper. If I'm using the LCT with the heater and so on, it makes no difference. The thickness is selected in the correct tray.

I have had issues with thick coated paper. Try to play around with the lower roller temperature. Dipswitch settings allow overall temperature changes in both directions.

It's not intuitive, but I have had success with lowering the temperature by 10 degrees C on the lower roller. Depends on the paper I guess

Never tried to lower the temperature... doesn't sound too logic...

There is a button in the driver to reduce the toner on the page but doesn't reduce image quality. With less toner will probably fuse better. I am on holidays at the minute so I don't have a driver to check - maybe someone can look it up.

If you have the extended paper settings turned on (dip-sw 1-0 =1) then goto the third screen and chose CPM DOWN this puts a gap between sheets. Might be enough for the fuser to recover. However this problem usually means you have to have to try a different stock.

I dint know procedure for c6500 but for c352 i tried next and got something, not much but something

Enter admin> system setting> expert adj= u can adjust tick 3 values

1. DENSITY ADY (go for - value)
2. PRINTER ADY ( go for - value)

Enter Service mode > image process=

1. TRANSFER FINE ADY (- value on tick 3 )
2. TICK PAPER DENSITY ADY (- value)

There could be even more options on c6500 representing "tick 3" adjustments but i hope this can help !

Is the thick paper on the KonicaMinolta Media guide for the C6500. There's a good reason for those media guides. KM tests loads of various brands and types of paper to give you good the best results. I've had a lot of fusing and image quality problems that were fixed simply by using the media that KM recommended.

Here's the media guide. Be wary of page 6...read it carefully...this one got me. Its actually a list of paper that KM has determined will not work in the C6500.

As I said in my first topic, I know the paper is the issue, I just needed a way to get around it.
