    Kyocera KM-4050 C6400 error codes

Hey Gang, I have a 4050 that keeps throwing C6400 error codes book says:

    C6400 Zero-cross signal error

While fuser heater ON/OFF control is
performed, the zero-cross signal is not
    input within 3 s.

Defective PWB. Replace the engine PWB or power source
PWB and check for correct operation.

Is there really a need to replace the board or has anyone out there found other fixes

    Thanks
    RB

I would try firmware update and have a fuser unit available to replace. We have replaced a number of fusers and returned them for warranty. PWB replacement last option.

      I'll get the soap....

The zero cross error tells you that there are neutral to ground transients. In plain language, dirty AC power.

Copiers are for the most part ground switching devices. If you don't have a good ground there is no guarantee the the various electronic components will come on when desired.

Most of the equipment that I've worked on allow for 0.5vac or less neutral to ground. The VOM is not the best possible tool for documenting this kind of problem. After all, how long are you going to stand there and watch it? A Power Quality Analyzer records all events preferably over 48 hours. The better ones generate event reports.

It can be very hard to convince a customer that they have a power issue. Electricity is a difficult enough concept for most people, how could it be dirty? Can't we just wash it? Without the report you don't have a leg to stand on. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

kyocera have changed the dimensions of the plastic housing that holds the fuser connector in the machine, we change this to the new type and no more errors.

          problem is old type arc's

What model? This is a laser code on most machines, you should ask your question in a new thread for a better response.

I found the best fix for this code
                sim 163
reset the fuser code and you will have no problems.
You can not troubleshoot a sc-6400.
don't rpl. pwb's just reset the fuser code with sim 163

Re: Kyocera KM-4050 C6400 error codes

Hi. I am actually working on a Copystar CS-1500 that came up with the C6400 code after a power outtage. According to the manual.... you can start the sim 163 code by entering maintenance mode (press stop reset start and left copy exposure key at the same time) but I am unable to enter maintenance mode.

Code just keeps on blinking and no way to bypass it. What am I doing wrong?

                    Thanks!
