Have the 3060 from hell!!! Bought this one to refurb about 1 year ago. 160K. Went through it, looks and runs nice. Thought I would upgrade the firmware, and then my problems began. Started giving an error code (sorry, I can't remember which one, but it meant there was a problem loading the firmware). Had the old style display, so no reboot switch. Had to bite the bullet and replace the display. All was well, until about 1 week ago when I went to use it and touch screen will not work. Display comes up, buttons on the op panel work (copy, send, start, clear, etc), but nothing happens with the display. Now, I haven't touched this machine in months, so I don't know what happened. Saw there was another firmware upgrade, (2.48), so I did that yesterday. Upgrade was successful, but still not working. Any ideas?? thanks..... Jeff M.
I'd start by going into the maintenance mode and run a U201, initialize the touch panel. Then disassemble the op panel and clean the touch screen area, if there is any junk pressing on the touch screen, it won't work. Then look to see if all the connections on the op panel were seated correctly. If they are then I'd look to replace the touch screen. Then go onto replacing the op panel.
Zack's on the right track. I've never had to replace a touch panel on a Stratos. Usually some sort of grit gets down between the edge of the touch screen and the plastic cover. Once the screen is "touched" in one location it ignores any other contact.
Just disassemble the operation panel, and clean the surface of the touch panel, and the edges of the plastic panel. I have heard of techs leaving the screws loose on the panel, but I've never needed to. Once it's clean it'll start to work.
Your op panel firmware was common on the old style panel, but is resolved with the newer version panel. It's unrelated to the current problem. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:

Thanks, guys. I'll run the sim 201 and try cleaning the touch screen, hoping for the best. I'll let you know on Monday. Have a great weekend! Regards.... Jeff M.

Since January 2011, we've replaced a number of tablets. The calls come in threes, so I'm usually short two panels. You'll also want the foamy seals. They're difficult to remove without destroying them. You can identify the problem easily. When the adhesive attaching the ribbon cable loosens up it turns from green to yellow.
