c6000 on KM5050 and then C6020 and fuser is seized melted together

    Hello,

We have an ongoing problem with a machine. We changed about 5 fuser, made mods a.e. new fuser drawer . it is running on the latest firmware. Changed Engine PWB where the control over fuser is taking place.

How it happens. If you do 10 or 50 or even 100 copies..it is sort of OK. When you do 300+ it tend to do the copies but when finished sometimes it comes with C6000 right away and sometimes it comes when the machine goes to sleep..(overnight, come in the morning and it has C6000) sometimes it melts the fuser right-away and other times when you do U163 fuser reset it then just melts the fuser as the thermo-switch is still closed ( we have tried several fusers so it is not the switch)

I am going to fully format the HDD and also change the Engine PWB. Flash with new firmware and see how it goes.

Just hope the EEPROMs are not corrupted as when I change Engine PWB I also keep the original EEPROM in place.

    Any suggestions?

Have you thought about AC power? I'd start with ground to neutral.

How many techs have worked on this machine? I had a machine once that kept melting down the fuser. It came from the factory mis-wired at he triac.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Had something like this a few months back.It was most likely a power surge damaged the power supply and main pcb. Also took a couple of fuser units to find this out as like you it would do a few hundreds of copies before melting down again.

Wow..so QC is out of the window then with Kyocera or Utax or who ever brand they coming up with ... we had 3 techs looking at it..and most of us were just puzzled and followed the manual....Fuser thermos witch etc....new fuser..working for 1 - 7 days until larger volume came to place and bang,,

We had different machine as a backup in place and that one was absolutely fine for the whole period.

I am very keen to look at the triak Wiring. It sort of make sense..I suspected power cable and looked at it and it was 5A cable with 10A fuse in it, so I thought .."Got,ya" but it was not the case, when I changed the fuser it just got super friendly again and I had another BAD day :]

Anyway , as this is a workshop job I'll keep you updated. So far just the Main PWB been changed and it did not help...so next step is the Wiring on power supply.

        Thank a lot Blackcat!!!!

As we shifting these machines across the country in all sorts of locations including remote self powered buses, it well may be that when power generator shut / or / started created a larger urge then the safety could take and I ended up with mad copier.

It wasn't exactly recently. The new machine that melted down fusers was a Mita DC-1655. The heat roller warped like a banana ... five times. I suspect that the FalconIII machine doesn't even have a triac. It probably uses a SSR (solid state relay) mounted right on the power supply. =^..^=

              OK..Update here

              FYI

Ended up changing power supply. It worked for 2 days now it does not melt the fuser (fingers crossed) . Now it decided to Freeze during large Copy jobs.. for example 8 x 1-2 sided originals to make 150 copies.. it stopped on 50th set to remove the printed paper from inner paper tray. I hit "Continue" and it just froze.. tried to add a counter report to the queue and it did..But when tried to cancel the jobs it did the big Copy job but it would not the counter report... So I tried a software restart through menu..That did not work either. So In user maintenance I am going for Initialization.

So far I am going to just format the HDD..and will see what happens next. I may flash the Firmware just to be sure. But I do it after the initialization to see if it helped ..at least a bit. I have no other freezing points, like Panel freezing or any similar.

If that doesn't work, consider changing the image memory. Are there any CFxxx codes stored? =^..^=

Its going the right direction right now. It stopped - Hit the Continue and it carries on.

So HDD format did help I think..well Fingers Crossed ..I will see what happens when it finishes the job and goes to sleep.

These are the only C- codes so far recorded on machine :

                  C5300 : 001
                  C6000 : 007
                  C6020 : 030
                  C6050 : 001

No other CF as such yet..I do have another machine though that was producing Cf codes but I think it was just a silly connector.. Funny enough I will put the "faulty" power supply to this model to see what happens.. got nothing to loose maybe another old fuser or so I hope

God as if I have nothing else to do on Sunady evening then being in the office to sort this out

The other machine with the CF codes and other C codes in to which I am going to put the "Faulty" Power supply is KM4050 I believe (its Utax CD1240) This machine had all sorts of funky issues and who would have thought that a connector it was just OUT and back IN (properly) and voila

The CF14F codes definitely relate to the power supply. I think you're on the right track. =^..^=

Yes It was power supply plus I had to format the HDD. To be sure i have put the old in the other machine and it is hanging on jobs,,a.e. it doesn't pull from logics.. ...I think there may be fluctuation on 5V ..logics are probably going to fail if I don't fix the PWR PWB..

Will keep you posted if I find the cause, and possibly the fix on the PWR PWB.

Have a nice weekend Blackcat. Thanks for stopping by
