    Ricoh AF 1027 Scanner problem

    Hey all,
I have a Ricoh AF 1027 which has a NIB and printer/scanner card installed. The printer works fine however when I try scanning I receive the following error:

36851: No response from the scanner. I've tried using MS office document scanner as well as Desktop Binder Lite V2.

Does anyone know what the problem could be?

P.S. The printer is connected to a router.

This TB might help. I also remember certain combinations of scan settings would confuse the machine when they were first put out - needed to update the firmware and clear the scanner memory, but I can't find the TB on that one...

Is this connected to the network and did you install the network twain scanner driver? I don't think the 1027 scans from the USB port.

Yes it is connected to a network. Yup the network twain driver is installed. But from what i've read its a firewall issue, I've opened up the necessary ports in the router as well as Mcafee that is installed on the local PC, but receiving the same msg.

          Try this.......

          1. Right click on my network places, select properties.
          2. Right click on local area network, select properties.
          3. Click on advanced tab, then click settings
          4. Select add to add a new service. Enter any description of service i.e. Twain
          5. Enter IP address of the local computer, not scanner.
          6. Enter 1022 for both internal and external port number, which Twain driver communicates through.
          7. Make sure TCP is selected, not UDP.
          8. Then click OK (3 times) to exit.
End result: Windows XP PC will still be protected by the Internet Connection Firewall (ICF), but allow network scanning to occur.

            Hi,
This only works if there's no other 3rd party firewall installed, ie McAfee, etc. Also I have turned the Windows firewall to off.

I've opened the ports in Mcafee and the router as mentioned in my earlier post.

McAffee is a virus - disable it temporarily, if the issue is fixed dump it on the customer's IT people

Thanks a lot Captain Scott!! Didnt think making such a small edit would get it working!

I even went to the extent to open up ports in the router!!

                  Thanks again, works great now.

Thanks Captain Scott......just figured SCNHOST was the last issue in the process of getting the Aficio 1075 to scan through network.

I have looked at your solution, am not a techie but am using Windows 7 OS with my 1022. The photocopier and printer options work but the scanner option does not, can you assist? I have connected the photocopier to my PC via RJ45 network cable and able to print to it by giving the appropriate IP address. When trying the scanner option the 1022 screen shows the memory 100% and the message 'Scanned data will be stored' the Copy button on the 1022 is RED light rather than GREEN light i.e. disabled, will not do anything when pressed. The 1022 screen also show message 'READY, Set original(s) then press start but as I say the start button is RED light. Please help, I am really stuck.

                        Najib.

Install the TWAIN driver on your comp and use that. The only other option is setting up ScanRouter and that is not supported anymore because it is a pia. (and pity the fool who does not mark my words)
