[Misc] MP C 3502 and SP C 830 Fusing units

Has anyone tried an SPC830 fuser (407098) in place of an MPc3502 fuser (D1424036) ?

Have used the SPC830DN fuser in the MPC4502, its easier to remove the loom from the MFD fuser and swap it over rather than pulling out the pins of the larger white connector.

The loop wire is connected between pins 4 & 5, for the MFD it needs to be in pins 3 & 4 but you'll find it easier to swap the looms over.

The 35 AND 45 have different fuser part numbers. Do you know the difference. I only have 45 and 5502's in the field so I cant compare. Perhaps the 830 fuser will work in those too? I like the printer fuser kits as they also contain the PTR. (again different numbers for the 35 and 45.

The MPC3002/3502 and MPC4502/5502 fusers are all the extact same.

You can use the maintenance kit in all models but you must do the following,

MPC4502/5502, change the complete connector assembly, easiest way to do it is take all the external covers off, unplug the lamp wiring from both sides and 3 screws (1 x earth screw and 2 x plug screws) swap them over and put covers back on and your done.

As for the MPC3002/3502, you do the same as above along with replacing the base plate of the fuser due to the fact when the fuser locks into the device, on the 3002/3502 it is located in a different spot and your done.

Yes, thanks all for your input. Imprestik -thanks for the details above. I have a new 407098 "maintenance kit" to play with but just haven't had the chance to crack it yet but I kinda figured it would be a jumper.

Even easier way is to use side cutters to cut the bit of plastic on the fuser base - cut the bit that locks into the pin on the machine. The plastic breaks real easy - dont try to remove the pin in the machine as its spotwelded in. Thats to use a 3002 / 3502 fuser into a 4502/ 5502 machine and vice versa.

Saves removing the thermisters and base assy.

Yeah just be careful with the maintenance kits, I think they still use the old belt assembly and they do not seem to last that long. You may find you will replace 2 or 3 fusing maintenance kits compared to 1 original one.

To tell you the truth though, these fusers are so easy to rebuild as the fusing belt assembly comes as 1 entire peace and the pressure roller comes with gear and bearing altogether pressed on, I can rebuild 1 in 20 minutes now, that's what I do and I find they will do their life quite easily...

Good info on the 4502/5502 I have not had to replace a 3502 fuser but maybe once, however on the 4502 and 5502 i go through hot sleeves like crazy I am lucky if a customer gets 100k out of a hot sleeve on a 4502, we found on a lot of them if we removed the sep bar from the fuser it will still run fine and a little longer as it seems the sep bar gets toner build up on it and scratches or dents the sleeve causing either quality issue or crinkling noises by removing the bar it seems to go a little longer but not great, those old spc8-- fusers always ran pretty good we used them in the 540 models with no problems.

The pin on the machine side comes out really easily..a couple of twists with pliers and it's done.
