    aficio 1045 Abnormal sc 990

I have a problem code sc 990 on Aficio 1045.
The machine does not go in ready.
if you unplug hard disk works without duplex (and I know that)
but after that I try to detach and attach hard disk some times everything worked well. already changed drum and blade
and maked Adjustments sensor id .
I don't changed developer it works for 140.000

Replace the Hard Drive. They sit inside the controller box and bake - I've seen the HDD fail 5 to 10 times more in this series machines than in all the other machines I work on combined.

The problem was so bad I submitted a design to Ricoh to modify the outside face plate to include a CPU fan that you can get from any computer shop for about $3.00 including the connector that splices into the HDD power. They could have made the whole thing available for less than 10 bucks. I got no reply - go figure.

No, see, you implied they had a design flaw which never happens. Particularly on that series.

Everything has been gold since the Aficio 350. You know that.

HA! Ricoh responds to one of their techs...I think not!
Seems like Ricoh is more so anti employee than anything else.....

I agree though with the design....

Companies used to require their engineers to work as techs for a few years before allowing them to design anything... Made so much sense they obviously had to stop doing it.

Which "main board"? If it's the controller (where the HDD is mounted) it's gonna be kinda hard to hit while it's installed in the machine and powered up where it has a chance to do anything.
In any case there are no references to it in the service file, so likely nothing would happen. Maybe a CPU reset, but that's kinda like turning the power off/on. May also be that smoke pours out of every orifice just before the whole thing explodes and leaves a massive crater. Push it and let's see - if we don't hear back from you, we'll know not to try it ourselves

Yes, is tha main board in wich is mounted the hard disk

Is possible to activate it before removing a little carter near it
but i don't know that can happen when my finger click on IT
I Hope that someone knows that

I think that IT don't resolve the "990" Problem

Your English is better than my Italian...

I'd be happy to push the button for you if you could provide an airline ticket, ground transportation, food, and lodging... and maybe a tour guide

I must be getting old, I spent more time looking at the bike!
At least 50% of IT is a solution looking for a problem.
