[Misc] Ricoh MP5000 Scan to Folder issues (Windows 7 Professional x64)

    Greetings all,

I'm having some big problems with the scan-to-folder feature on the MP5000. It will work, but after 45 mins to an hour, it will stop working. The only fix for this is to restart the server they're being scanned to.

We have it setup so it will scan to one workstation (Win7 Pro x64), where inside there are multiple user folders (all mapped on the MP5000 correctly) so users can pull their scans off. When it works, it works flawlessly. Then out of the blue it'll stop working.

I've tried turning off SMB Signing, changing DNS, etc. to no avail. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? It's very frustrating and it's impacting productivity at my clients office.

    Thanks.

If it's only a problem with the server I'd tell your customer to set up an XP box to handle the scanning or just use scan to email instead. The MP5000 isn't at fault as the scanning issues are resolved after a server restart.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

Thanks for the reply. I'm hoping it's just a number off somewhere or a port not opened or something. Like I said, it works for a while and works like a charm, until it just decides to stop working. I'm more curious as to why that would happen, rather than setting up a whole new solution.

There are various Scan to SMB bug fixes for weird and wonderful problems via the Network support firmware.

Thanks Cipher. Is it true that I can't get the firmware unless I'm an authorized dealer?

Yeah just call your local Ricoh dealership and request that the firmware be updated for your model.

            Should be a minimal charge.

I'm guessing this could have something to do with it? Looked in the system log and found this:

Cool, then it's down to good old troubleshooting.

When it stops working you should try doing a network capture using wireshark and see if you can find some clues.
Also checking the Windows event log for errors may shed some light.

Try using a I.P address instead of a name as that would bypass any name resolution issues.

Event log doesnt have anything special for me to be worried about. I took a look at the default gateway @ http://192.168.1.254 and looks like there may be some things with the SonicWALL crap to change.

I'm the second person in this office to do work like this. Relatively small, 10~ user office with some lingering network problems. It's been a bit of a birds nest but I think we're getting close to finally getting this taken care of.

Just have to find the SonicWALL user/pass and I think theres going to be some Firewall stuff in there for me to look at. At the very least, some ports to forward.

                      Thanks again.

It wouldn't be the first time that firewall or antivirus caused issues with Scan to SMB.

                        Good luck.

                          Hello,

We are a Ricoh distributor in Mexico and have access to an ftp with "Tech Tool Box" and to Ricoh University where we usually find firmwares, bulletins, manuals, etc.; but the highest Network Firmware that I've found in there is 7.26 ... and it still present problems with SMB shares, could you please direct me to where I can find the new firmware?

                          Thanks!

Issue has been resolved, I got the firmware directly from Ricoh Mexico... The MFP has been updated and now Scan to folder in Windows 7 works! ... Thanks

Joevane, you say you got the Firmware from Mexico and you can now scan to folder. Is the Firmware newer than 7.37 D0135754M ? I only ask because your machine shows 7.37 D0135754M already installed. How can I get this Firmware?Setting up a MP4001 and it is not scanning to folder in Win 7.Any help would appreciated. Thanks.
