    Toshiba Estudio 4540c - CA00 and CE40

well heres a good one , just installed this machine and we normally leave the drum units in the machine when installing them...This one time we pulled them out because of the rough surface at the install site.
got the machine installed and re inserted the drum units and the code CA00 showed up , pulled the units out and reset them and now nothing but ce40 comes up.. this machine only has 200k on it and is in mint shape.

any ideas my fellow brothers, were resetting all the dv units to zero.. after that no clue..

The CE40 is pointing to the calibration hash marks not being read correctly.
I would slide out the TBU and EPU'S together and see if any calibration marks
are on the TBU. Also make sure the TBU is aligned correctly. Also eyeball the dev
unit brushes after removing the drums. If the machine was bounced around enough
then the developer may not be evenly spread across the mag rollers and this would
cause void areas. This would in turn cause CE40 and CA00 errors since the calibration
marks could not be laid down correctly.

If you check out the manual, you'll see that you can use diagnostics to identify which colors, which registration marks are missing. Or ... you can just remove the transfer belt assembly and look at the developed marks, to identify which color is missing where. It's possible that some toner has dumped in the patch sensors, but more likely you'll find the one or more of the developing units has developer fully shifted to one side or the other. Just examine the affected developing unit, and manually turn the drive until the brush evens out. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

yep it was the DV units , the black and magenta were uneven in the trays , removed the covers and mixed them around reassembled and so far so good..
hope these are good machines , this is the first of the 40' series were putting out, been doing the 2830'c, 3530c , 4520c and have great success with them.

thanks guys for all your help...

Mechanically they're very similar to the eS4520C series. Mainly software differences. =^..^=

I know it's fixed but the easiest way to fault find these errors is to disable colour registration & image quality control in 08 mode. Then run some halftone prints in 04 mode. Then see which colour is abnormal.
