And though some items may be pricey -- think laptops, calculators, backpacks -- we did some shopping and found several small-ticket items whose function and fashion will put a smile on any student gloomily facing down the end of summer. For under $10, we found practical whiteboards, indestructible pencils, colorful zip-up storage envelopes and adorable mini binders that are great for jotting down homework...or passing a note to a friend.
