Every year, high school students from across the country compete in the Japan Center Essay Competition. The competition, which is sponsored by Canon U.S.A., Inc., asks students to write papers on a variety of topics related to Japanese culture and society. This year, the theme of the competition was "What Jasmine Blossoms Meant to Me." Students were asked to write about their personal experiences with jasmine blossoms, and how these experiences have impacted their lives. The winning essays were selected by a panel of judges from Canon U.S.A., and each winner received a cash prize. In addition to the cash prizes, the top three winners also had the opportunity to travel to Japan to participate in the Canon Student Ambassador program. Through this program, students had the chance to learn more about Japanese culture to help with writing paper and meet with Canon executives. The Japan Center Essay Competition is a great way for high school students to learn more about Japanese culture and history, and we are proud to continue our support of this important program.
