The American Antitrust Institute gave its two cents about Staples' $6.3 billion deal to buy Office Depot in a report released this week, which calls for the Federal Trade Commission to take a closer look at the acquisition and its potential effects on the companies' consumer and business customers. The independent non-profit's 21-page white paper by Randy Stutz , Associate General Counsel of AAI, asks the FTC to examine the Staples-Office Depot Deal closer than it examined the OfficeMax-Office Depot merger, which was approved in November 2013.
