Re: your most liked brand
It is getting to be almost like Samsungs GSPN site. A real mess.
So GSPN is still a problem. use to service samsung and login in to gspn would be a challenge. when you do get in, you have to go to sub levels and figure out what is what. this was about three years ago, thought they would have sorted that out by now. Going to sound like i am promoting kyocera, but login in to kdaconnect is instant and download is fast and layout is relatively simple. our techs use it everyday for firmware and manuals. I also use others which are not bad too.
Have to give HP a up rating for providing laserjet firmware free for the public for many years now, most manufactures restrict access to their firmware to dealers.

I mainly work on KonMin, Samsung, HP and up until they imploded, Panasonic. My favourite out of these is KonMin. Although their new and "improved" SSD site (site for tech bulletins) is practically unusable. It is getting to be almost like Samsungs GSPN site. A real mess. When you have to create a training video just to teach techs how to use your website, there might be a problem with your website. lol
I will have to disagree with the last statement outlined in red above. There are many lazy techs out there [no offence meant ], who likes to be bottle fed. so in having this video, will actually save a lot of support time in teaching how to navigate the menus. New techs can view the video and maybe get some answers that they may want to ask and feel independent. If the video is done properly, i think it should be helpful.THE ONLY THING FOR EVIL TO TRIUMPH IS FOR GOOD MEN TO DO NOTHING..........edmund burkeComment

Believe me, I have viewed and followed the directions in the training video. It makes no difference as far as I can see.Comment

You can disagree all you want. It seems to me this SSD website was created to put less pressure on the support phone lines, so they should make it easy to find bulletins. Instead they have made it so difficult to find any useful information that people just get frustrated and call the support line. Lazy or not, I am not going to go through 285 bulletins to find the one that may or may not pertain to the issue I am dealing with.
Believe me, I have viewed and followed the directions in the training video. It makes no difference as far as I can see.
I was not referring to you as being lazy, that was a general statement and about the SSD website. I was just making the point of some who does not want to make the effort to do things on thier own and first thing will call the support line and therefore cause wait time to be long. my last statement was "If the video is done properly, i think it should be helpful." I also said in the first line.
"I will have to disagree with the last statement outlined in red above". Go back and see the red lines i highlighted.THE ONLY THING FOR EVIL TO TRIUMPH IS FOR GOOD MEN TO DO NOTHING..........edmund burkeComment

Re: your most liked brand
Between Ricoh/Savin and Kyocera, I think I'll go with Kyocera!
For one thing, we have sold brand new Ricoh/Savin machines and brand new Kyocera machines.
I don't like the direction Ricoh/Savin is going--their robustness is lacking as well as their repair-ability rating, especially their color machines and troubleshooting is a beeyotch!--We have a machine in the field that is having some toner supply issues--don't get me started!
Kyocera--their 01 series is fab!...they have parts--fusers, etc. that fit multiple models and you don't have to rebuild them!!!...they have a TOTALLY different mindset from Ricoh!...with Kyocera, if it doesn't work, they improve on it and learn from their mistakes...if the part is under warranty, you can return it for a new/corrected part! Ricoh, on the other hand, has to "re-engineer" and monkey around with something even if it does work to break the next iteration of the product series!
How many Kyocera machines do you see for resale?!--hardly any!...they just WORK....and LAST!
How many Ricoh machines do you see for resale?!--tons!--and since our company gets "off lease" ricoh/savin machines to resell, we get to see the bad engineering sh!t that ricoh does!...the ridiculous over-engineering that more often than not "breaks" the machine instead of "making" it!
Kyo = Cut, Cera = Ceramic - Kyocera has the most durable machine materials on the market...aside possibly from Canon!
Anyway, the only way (I Think) that Ricoh is "surviving" is to diversify its product line is to "push" its products into other company names--savin, gestetner, lanier, etc.
Just my 2 Cents Worth!

Re: your most liked brand
No i have not. But in this same thread there was a guy who had a complaint about kyocera QA site and my reply. see below
I agree wth almost all of the above, but, PLEASE, their new system to search for QA's is even worse than it was. In the past, at least there was a brief description of what the QA was about. Now it's impossible to search and then you have to open each one separately to see if it deals with anything you're looking for[/QUOTE]
Yep, absolutely correct. at least i can login to that QA site now, had problems in the last few months, but they rectified it. They posted that they fixed that anyway. The database that they are using looks like it is 20 years behind, but at least there is one and playing around with it you can narrow your searches.THE ONLY THING FOR EVIL TO TRIUMPH IS FOR GOOD MEN TO DO NOTHING..........edmund burkeComment

All I'm saying is, when upgrading from a system that works very well, make sure the new system works as well, or better. Don't make it worse. And if the fix for the poorly working system is a training video, instead of an actual fix, that is ridiculous.Comment
