Most of the locations are covered for me as well..but i did once go in a big bank(pretty standard) to PM an 7255.
After half an hour trying to verify my credentials i finished my job nice and easy and left.Jokes on me for forgetting my laptop bag back in there.
By the time i got back the cops where waiting to arrest me for a POSSIBLY EXPLOSIVE MECHANISM.
Trying to explain to the police you are just an innocent tech and not part of ISIS is not fun at all.

How about in a disabled toilet in a gym! customer couldn't see anything wrong with that setup

Customer's town house. Snow white and I mean it was whiter than the paper, carpet around copier. It was take shoes off at the door white. It was one speck of toner would show up like a sore thumb white. It was the only thing whiter is heaven. She wanted it cleaned and I better not drop anything onto her perfect carpet white. She requested I roll the copier into her bathroom (which was huge) and not service it on white carpet. Happy to oblige in this case. I don't imagine I will ever see anything that white again, if I ever go back, I'm bringing sunglasses. Who has pure white carpet in the first place?

Gambling Casino cashiers vault. There are 3 security doors. No one may enter wearing jackets, etc. There are stinking cameras all around. Normally I enter with guard, take coat off at first door and enter through last two doors with no coat. The coat stays between 1st and 2nd door. New security guard trying to impress me. He refused to open 1st door with my jacket on. I told him to radio their control center to tell them coat will come off between the doors. He declined and told me to leave my coat on a public chair. I told him either bring the copier to me or radio in. He declined both. I started to leave. Got about 5 feet from the exit and he asked where I was going. I told him that when the copier isn't working and someone calls in pissed I would politely tell them that Officer "Smith" told me I couldn't service it because he was too pig headed lazy to radio into the control center. He radioed in and I got my way. Funny, I don't think he lasted more than 3 months there.

Lots of fun when I worked on the very early computer terminals for NCIC. I mean this was back before tcip addressing. Yeah the terminals had hardwired switches for the address on dedicated telephone lines. Anyway like you I went out to do a repair. Now these machines were on 24 hour service contract. So if one broke we went even if it was three am. Well I had a call at a county jail. I get there and identify myself. Guard is not letting anyone in because it is after normal business hours and would not call the computer operator. I turned around went back outside into the lobby and call my dispatcher. And they call the operator of the computer terminal. She comes out and the guard still will not allow anyone to enter. I have two more calls to go to so I have the operator sign I was there and when and why I could not repair the terminal. After I get tot he second late call I get another call to return to the jail. Get there and same guard is still not letting me in. And we go through the same nonsense with the operator and get them to sign again with the same info at a different time. I left and get home. Once there I called dispatch and explained what went on. They told me they had another call from the state police head quarters and I was to meet a highway patrolman at the jail. We get there and idiot guard is still not letting me in because it is not "visiting hours" Well highway patrolman calls in and gets the sheriff on the line to the idiot guard. That was real fun explaining why I did not fix it on the first call to my boss. But luckily I did have the signed papers from the operator. And the call records to the dispatchers.

Just starting as an Indy in the early 90's. Would work on most anything. Call from a gents club comes in & I said (being a Christian, family man) "I'll service it if I can pick it up & take it to the shop". From the symptom, I knew it would be about an hour procedure. It's just late afternoon, so I figure the place would be empty and I'll be on my way without getting my pass to Heaven revoked. Door opens, it's darker than night inside, so I walk down the hallway asking for the office, while my eyes adjust. They point me to the copier, I see the scanner pulley is broken as expected so I unplug the copier & ask if they want a receipt. No need. Great, I'm outta here, still married, didn't even break a sweat. Making my way back down the hall with copier in hand and a girl appears in a fish net. Literally a friggin net, that's it. She opens the door for me as the extreme western sunlight bursts in and illuminates all of God's creation. Proof that looking will blind you. That's the closest I ever came to a web of intrigue. Asked another (single) tech to take the copier back after it was fixed. I didn't have to ask twice.

Mine wasn't a copier, but an old HP 8000. It was in the freezer of a grocery store stocking warehouse, where they kept the frozen meat. The printer would spit out the pallet labels for the guys on the forklifts to grab on the way. Damn thing took 10 minutes for first print out but would keep going after that. The meter on it was a ridiculous 3mil.

The funny irony was I was there to perform a Maintenance kit replace. Only errors listed in the error log where paper jams due to the stock being so bad. No fuser temp errors.

Your post reminded me of a very weirdly placed copier we were called to repair after the original selling dealer or that line of desktops sharps retired. The copier a SF 2014 was in the entry to kitchen/office of a seafood restaurant. Less than six feet away was a 40 gallon steam kettle for making soup. And yes one of those things gives off a lot of moisture into the air. Calls listed on the history sticker from the selling dealer were constant for poor print, curled copies and of course jams and primary charge errors. Took three calls and finally refused to service the machine unless they moved it away from the kitchen entrance. They finally did when another dealer forced them to moved the copier to behind the receptionist/cashiers stand. Yeah that was a whole twenty steps away from where it was earlier. But there was now a door and air conditioning where the copier was moved to.

Can't specify much because it's a current (lucrative) contract, but in a certain hospital there is a bizhub 363 in what can only be described as a closet, so small that one literally cannot open the door fully to enter the room without standing uncomfortably close (get-to-know-your-neighbor close) to the finisher and allowing the door to close behind them. The door will not open past the control panel. How do they open the side door to clear a jam? They don't. They place a service call that the machine is "jammed, can't get to it".

Last call I got for that machine was noted "broken part". Someone new apparently didn't realize the spacial limitations of that room and decided to open the door with all their might, broke the control panel clean off. I found it hanging by the cable, thankfully when I built the blasted thing I screwed the cable in place. That was a fun call. Could not, for the life of me, figure out why it wasn't billable as "damaged by user".
