    Perception is a big part in how a machine 'operates' and how customers view it...
    A dirty looking machine will generally be perceived as crap even if it's running like a top
    A clean machine will be treated better and be perceived as a good machine, the customer will also be more amiable to service...like they will be fine with you taking a paper tray out of service wile a part is on order and work with you rather than bitch about how their machine is a POS like a 'dirty' one is.

      Great point. Very true.


      Here's a quick story. At a company I used to work for, they had some all purpose cleaner and we'd put it in a little spray bottle and put in our tool kit to clean the outside of the machine.

      The cleaner had a strong odor and wasn't pleasant to breathe. I had gotten used to it but customers would complain sometimes. I mentioned this to a fellow tech and he told me that he called the cleaner "my customer repellant." He said when they would stand over him that he would start spraying and the customer would vanish. lol
      Adversity temporarily visits a strong man but stays with the weak for a lifetime.
