The US will begin redeploying troops stationed in Germany within weeks, Defense Secretary Mark Esper has said. Some 12,000 troops will move – aroundhalf will be brought home, and half will move to European countries like Italy.
Esper told reporters on Wednesday that out of 11,900 American soldiers to be moved from Germany, around 6,400 will return to the US, and 5,600 will be redeployed to other NATO countries.
The troops staying in Europe will be moved to Italy and Belgium, US Air Force General Tod Wolters, commander of the US European Command, said.
A fighter squadron and elements of a fighter wing will be repositioned to Italy, moving them closer to the Black Sea region, and [making them] better capable of conducting dynamic force employments and rotational deployments to NATO’s southeastern flank.\
We’re going to be reducing troops in Germany very substantially, down to about 25,000 troops. <---So, it's not like we are leaving Germany "High and Dry".
"“The current EUCOM plan will reposition approximately 11,900 military personnel from Germany, from roughly 36,000 down to 24,000 in a manner that willstrengthen NATO, enhance the deterrence of Russia, and meet the other principles I set forth,” Secretary of Defense Mark Esper told reporters.
BSM, in your shitty reporting, you neglected to mention that Germany hasn't been paying their fair share for NATO defense. The U.S. spends nearly FOURTEEN times as much as Germany, and yet they get to enjoy the benefits of our Presence and Financial backing while Cheaping-out and paying a fraction of what we do. That's one of the big reasons behind reducing our presence. It's also stated in your beloved CNN's story and on CNBC and the like, that the repositioning of the other 5,600 troops will provide better deterrence of Russia in other regions where we have a miniscule presence.
Quote from CNBC article: "The announcement is closely tied to the plan to increase the U.S. troop presence in Poland (Because Poland actually pays it's expected 2% GDP), a shift long-desired by Warsaw and Polish President Andrzej Duda. And by spreading forces into the east, it sends a message to Russia that the U.S. is not reducing its commitment to region and remains ready to protect Eastern Europe from any Moscow aggression."

Great spin but NOT a NATO approved PLAN better luck next time. No worries President Biden will KILL the plan when elected and send a CLEAR MESSAGE to Mr PUTIN
US to withdraw nearly 12,000 troops from Germany in move that will cost billions and take years
The US is moving forward with President Donald Trump's plan to withdraw nearly 12,000 troops from Germany, a decision that has attracted bipartisan congressional opposition and roiled key allies who see the move as a blow to NATO.
Secretary of Defense Mark Esper acknowledged the plan will cost billions to execute when he formally announced the decision on Wednesday from the Pentagon. US defense officials said it will take years to relocate the troops.
The plan to pull US troops from the long-time NATO ally has been met with broad bipartisan opposition amid concerns that it will weaken the US military's position vis a vis Russia, however the Trump Administration has decided to proceed with the move.

Biden -=IF=- elected will be held under the 25th Amendment and his VP (whomever since he can't ( or the DNC ) make his mind up.
But no worries.. he'll cry "rigged" just like Killary did in 2016. People are tired of the dimwit party and they are showing it.

Great work! In 57 words you manage to pack in one obscenity, one falsehood and four insane conspiracy theories.
Redeployment of any US forces in Europe will takes months to plan and execute plus cost huge $USD for little benefit except to Russia. In the unlikely event that the most corrupt President is US history is re-elected, I think this move will have to wait until President Biden is elected.
Trump is now in the time frame of his Presidency often referred to as a lame duck President. Trump can talk all that he wants but big programs can only happen in the short term by executive order. Many Republican politicians are now distancing themselves from Trump in an attempt to bolster their personal sagging chances of re-election.

People are tired of Trump and the Republican party. Forum members are tired of your endless insults and do not care what anyone thinks behaviour. Voters are eager to vote for change and many Republicans are willing to hold their nose for four years and vote for Biden. Biden is viewed as trustful, patriotic and worthy of the office of President.
Do yourself a favor. Watch this video and ask yourself has President Trump ever had this kind of conversation.
In the murky world of deception, misinformation about disinformation is not unusual.
At the height of this summer's nationwide protests over racial inequality in the US, a Twitter account claiming to be Antifa, far-left activists, called for violence on America's streets. The account was held up by Donald Trump Jr., to support claims that Antifa is dangerous.
It later emerged the account was not run by Antifa at all, but instead by white supremacists apparently seeking to sow chaos, just as Russians have long done.

There is currently a culture of mistrust in major institutions -- prime conditions to spread disinformation. Coupled with technological developments that make it easy to create and disseminate forged documents and fake news stories, it is almost, he said, a "perfect storm."
When real reporters don't get disinformation stories created by Russian intelligence published, the internet allows for the creation of fake reporters. In 2016, the GRU — Russian military intelligence -- used a fake persona named "Alice Donovan," Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation found. The same persona is believed to have posted articles to a popular independent American website.
