    Red States - Blue States

    Dear Red States-

We've decided we're leaving. We intend to form our own country, and we're taking the other Blue States with us. In case you aren't aware, that includes California, Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and all of the Northeast. We believe this split will be beneficial to the nation, and especially to the people of the new country of New California.

To sum up briefly: You get Texas, Oklahoma and all the slave states. We get stem cell research and the best beaches. We get the Statue of Liberty. You get Dollywood. We get Intel and Microsoft. You get WorldCom. We get Harvard. You get Ole' Miss. We get 85 percent of America's venture capital and entrepreneurs. You get Alabama. We get two-thirds of the tax revenue; you get to make the red states pay their fair share.

Since our aggregate divorce rate is 22 percent lower than the Christian Coalition's, we get a bunch of happy families. Please be aware that Nuevo California will be pro-choice and anti-war, and we're going to want all our citizens back from Iraq at once. If you need people to fight, ask your evangelicals.

With the Blue States in hand, we will have firm control of 80 percent of the country's fresh water, more than 90 percent of the pineapple and lettuce, 92 percent of the nation's fresh fruit, 95 percent of America's quality wines (you can serve French wines at state dinners) 90 percent of all cheese, 90 percent of the high tech industry, most of the U.S.
low-sulfur coal, all living redwoods, sequoias and condors, all the Ivy and Seven Sister schools plus Stanford, CalTech and MIT. With the Red States, on the other hand, you will have to cope with 88 percent of all obese Americans (and their projected health care costs), 92 percent of all U.S. mosquitoes, nearly 100 percent of the tornadoes, 90 percent of the hurricanes, 99 percent of all Southern Baptists, virtually 100 percent of all televangelists, Rush Limbaugh, Bob Jones University, Clemson and the University of Georgia. We get Hollywood and Yosemite, thank you.

Additionally, 38 percent of those in the Red states believe Jonah was actually swallowed by a whale, 62 percent believe life is sacred unless we're discussing the death penalty or gun laws, 44 percent say that evolution is only a theory, 53 percent that Saddam was involved in 9/11 and 61 percent of you crazy bastards believe you are people with higher morals then we lefties.

Finally, we're taking the good pot, too.

    Peace out,
    Blue States

I live in Michigan, and I thought we had 92% of the U.S. mosquitos.

As a member of the Purple People (those of us who are neither religious loonies or wacky anything goes liberals), I say we need to try and remember that the vast majority of people in this country don't consider themselves as 'red' or 'blue'. Yeah, on this issue or that I may skew one way or the other, but as TV news has become more and more TV shows about news and blowhards on the right (FOX) or left (MSNBC) declaring themselves as the greatest thing since sliced bread or internet porn, a lot of us that fall into the middle have just lost any kind of voice.
The farthest extremes on both sides seem to have just finally taken over all political discourse in the country.
Or maybe I'm just the kind of idiot who can't stand Rush Limbaugh or James Dobson anymore than I can Al Franken or Bill Maher.
No matter who wins this election, let's just try and take back the discussion from the hardliners and bring back some civility, friendly disagreement, and competing points of view back to the table.
God only knows if the rank and file people did that the politicians would really get scared because it would mean that people were actually THINKING instead of pinning themselves into little coloured boxes...

          Just my thoughts...

Don't forget you will have to negotiate terms for air space priveleges. That doesn't just happen. There will also be the highway issues to be dealt with.

Tolls and tariffs could be awfully exorbitant.

Ah yes but we have the redneck think tanks. Can't beat that.

                  You can have them.
Now, about that video you posted (or someone posted) anyhow, this happened in an area of Philly known as the jungle and believe me, it is aptly named. Now just to show you how smart those panthers are, do you really think that the population in that area is going to vote for McSame?
They would've been smarter to have gone door to door and driven people to the poles. Dontcha think?

                    Oh for sure.

Ya know this is the sort of thing that the republicans are sposed to do. Keep people from voting.

As Mr. Spock said 'Only Nixon could go to China'
Even being the liberal that I am, I still think Nixon was a great President. He did end the war ya know.
He just surrounded himself with bad advisers and let them do what they wanted.
Now as far as the present President, there will be more books written about him, more studies on the damage he's done to this country, our foreign policy, and the WARS. Not to mention deregulation, the economy, the Katrina response etc.
And who can forget Cheny telling the senators as he was walking out of their chamber to go fuck themselves. And let's not forget how he got 'Scooter' to out Joe Wilson's wife the CIA agent because of the critical report he wrote on the Niger trip and how Sadam never actually was looking for nuclear material. What a guy!
Once last point, Dubya has more signing statements on his record than ALL of the other presidents combined. And if you don't know what a signing statement is, Google it.

Yea, like the flyers that the Republicans put out telling folks that if they have traffic tickets or outstanding warrants that they'll get arrested at the poles.

As the token tea drinking, on the left driving, limey on this thread so far could I just ask that while you are redrawing the maps and sorting the associated admin, that you let the Cowboys win the next superbowl.

                            Many thanks.
