    Re: Smoking?

It's a friggin horrible addiction. Over a period of 30 years I have quit for 6 years, 4 months, 2 years, 9 months, 1 year and a little over a year the last time. Quitting is easy. It's the not starting up again that is the issue Vaping cuts down on my cig consumption.

      Re: Smoking?

Now in my 50s, but in late 20s I met my future wife. On our 1st date I lit up.."I don't date smokers". Put it out, threw the pack away and never lit another one. (started at 14 yrs old BTW). Fast forward 3 years or so...out at sea (navy) and bored as hell. Friend gives me a dip to try. Hooked on that shit for nearly 20 years...kept it from my wife for 10 years after we were married...She absolutly hates it and it almost caused a divorce...We did come to terms..(I continue to hide it from her, and she doesn't bring it up) but the smooch level went to almost zero...Finally started getting gum/jaw problems (nothing scary) and last week I threw the crap out once more..The dip cravings are much worse than the cigs..I find myself sitting at my desk and reaching for that can 25 times a day..but I think I have it under control...The wife is very happy..lol

Half of the habit is what it is reinforced with like a cup of coffee, a cold beer, after a meal and other things, driving in the car or just being bored.
Try patches before you go back to the chew.

This vape liquid is experimental but effective so would not advise it but so far no ill effect.
Except if you take to much it causes the hiccups! Using 18 or 12mg strength gets rid of cravings real quick.
Only a drop at a time. Works out real cheap around less than $30 a month does not seem that bad.
But this will also need to end.
        Whatever

So i am cheating. Using vape drops orally and topically but already forgetting to use it especially at night.
The flavors tastes ok and replaces the sweets and other stuff that would have taken that place anyway.

After 29 years of smoking its something awesome not to, ill take that as a victory.
Must admit getting a little agitated but dealing with that.

About consuming tabaco orally, sure the FDA approved of much worse before
Way to go with the three week success. From the people I have spoken to and others who have successfully quit the majority agree that the most effective way to quit smoking is cold turkey. Harder than most other initially but once the initial shock of losing the addictive smoke the longest lasting.

I started smoking way back when I was in high school and smoked until one month prior to turning 49. That was the week I finished two packs and started the third twice in one week. I had tried twice before to quit. Once with a stop smoking group. And once when I went to a hypnotist. Neither of those attempts lasted longer than three weeks before i picked them back up again. But when I opened that third pack in a single day the second time in a five day work week I decided to take what I had left of the cartoon and throw them away. And I did. Secondly since it was a month until my 49th birthday I gave myself a present. Yes that present was 30 days without smoking at all. And then on my birthday I gave myself a year of no cigarettes each following year afterwards

Good luck and I wish you success in your plans to quit.
          .

One thing worse than smoking is the damn government banning it and taxing it to ridiculous levels. To quote the Temple of Doom "makes us all feel like well-cared for children"

Over 30 years since I quit the Devils Weed and don't miss it at all. The first year was the worse, in the pub playing pool with beer in one hand and cue in the other and something was missing.........
Now can't stand the smell on other people. How ever the smell of a good cigar is still very tempting.

Pardon my ignorance but whats "dip"?

Dip is in some places snuff or as some people call it pinch tobacco. It is a tobacco product you put directly in mouth along the lower gums. Never actually tried it. Some of my aunts and uncles used it . You remember those spittoons in the old westerns. Those were there for snuff users to spit into.

Really really nasty stuff if you sneezed when you had some of it in your mouth or coughed. Never ever tried it because I did see what happens when you sneeze with it in your mouth. One of my uncles had a cold and thought he could control the sneezes while he had a dip. Nope he couldn't and got it all over the couch when he turned his head to avoid sneezing on the coffee table with the afternoon snacks

                  Yuck, reeevolting!!!!
I think chewing tobacco is completely outlawed here in Oz because of the high incident of mouth cancers.
Sale of smoking tobacco gets more and more restricted every year, have to be hidden under the counter, plain packaging and horrifying photos on the pack. But still the silly little girlies at work go down the side of the building to light up.

                        Re: Smoking?

I smoked for almost 20 years. At one point, I made a rule that I would not smoke in my car or my apartment. I had just bought a new car and moved into a new place, and I didn't want them to smell like stale smoke. Standing outside at -40 trying to smoke makes you wonder if it's really worth it. When I decided to quit, it took about a year and a half of stopping and starting before I stopped for good. I remember bumming a smoke from a friend and lighting it up. After 2 puffs, it didn't taste good anymore, so I put it out and never picked up another one. The nicotine cravings were bad for a couple days, but the psychological cravings lasted for years. The best things about quitting are the money saved and the lack of the annual bronchitis flare up. My best advice is, drink a lot of water.

Used to smoke around a pack a day. Chantix helped me quit. An interesting side effect of it is "Vivid dreams" and they aren't kidding!

Way over a month of no smoking.
Now its kicking in, forgetting about the nicotine drops but all kinds of manifestation has set in.
Mood swings, agitation, over eating, tiredness.

Not craving for a smoke but need to figure this out, stopped smoking because of health problems only to create some others.

I'm guessing mood swings, agitation, over eating and tiredness are not as bad for you as smoking. These symptoms will pass as your body gets used to the lack of chemicals provided by smoking.
Good job so far. Keep it up, well worth the temporary discomfort.

I quit by using the gum. It took me 2 1/2 years to quit the gum. I figured it was still better than smoking. Now I have been quit for many years with never having any yearnings to start again.
