tito vazquez says he still remembers the day three decades ago when, as a wrestler at ohio state university, the doctor he'd gone to see about a bloody nose insisted on examining his genitals. He also recalls how one of his coaches dismissed his immediate complaint.


"'i have nothing to do with this,'" vazquez quoted the assistant coach saying, as he effectively ended the conversation and went on with wrestling practice.
That coach, vazquez says, was jim jordan, now an ohio congressman and an influential voice in republican politics, perhaps best known for his pugnacious defense of president donald trump during the recent impeachment proceedings.
Vazquez is one of six former osu wrestlers who told cnn in recent interviews that they were present when jordan heard or responded to sexual misconduct complaints about team doctor richard strauss. Eight others say strauss' inappropriate behavior was an open secret in the athletic department and that jordan, among others, must have known about it.

What jordan and other coaches knew, and when they knew it, has been under scrutiny since 2018, when osu announced an investigation into the allegations against strauss. An independent report commissioned by the university concluded last year that strauss "sexually abused at least 177 male student-patients" between 1979 and 1998. The doctor died by suicide in 2005.

In April 2019, Attorney General William Barr released a summary of the confidential Mueller report, which concluded that there was no evidence of collusion between Russia and the 2016 Trump campaign.
The Mueller report further concluded that there was insufficient evidence of obstruction of justice. Because of national-security concerns, the Mueller report contained redactions and was not released in its entirety to the public.
The version that was turned over was 98% unredacted on obstruction of justice and 95% unredacted on collusion. As U.S. Attorney General, Barr is obligated to redact grand-jury testimony and top-secret intel that jeopardizes national security.

Successful businesses are in the cross-hairs of Biden’s plans, the analysis noted.
“Biden’s plan would increase the top corporate income tax rate from 21 percent to 28 percent and impose a 15 percent minimum tax on companies’ book income,” the analysis said.
American families earning over $400,000 would see the tax cuts passed in 2017 and signed into law by President Donald Trump taken away, it noted.

The Tax Policy Center said top earners will bear most of the brunt of Biden’s income tax changes, but that taxpayers in all brackets will feel some impact.
“The highest-income households would see substantially larger tax increases than households in other income groups, both in dollar amounts and as a share of their incomes,” the report said

Biden also wants to limit itemized deductions for high-income taxpayers and tax capital gains and dividends like ordinary income for millionaires.
In its reporting on Biden’s proposals, CNBC noted, “While Wall Street may view Biden as more moderate than self-declared democratic socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders, investors would still face dramatic tax increases under his proposals.”
“The proposal is very progressive,” Gordon Mermin, senior research associate at the Tax Policy Center, told CNBC.

Some believe a high-tax policy is a mistake.
“Right now, one of the biggest problems we have is low investment even with low interest rates,” Karl Smith, vice president for federal policy at the Tax Foundation, told The New York Times. “In general, taxing capital or productive assets is going to make that problem even worse.”

That question had been on the census for a long time. Just like immigrants used to have to prove they weren't sick or criminals and had a job offer/sponsorship and could support themselves. The dims removed those requirements.
