As New York DA his primary job is to protect the citizens of and visitors to the City of New York prosecute the individuals committing crimes against the citizens of New York on a daily basis. Instead he is dropping charges against them and releasing them back onto the streets to commit further crimes.

Missing some details about the Shasta County Sheriff's Office involvement in the case. They apparently felt that they had been upstaged by the San Mateo Bat Mobile raid(do your own research into that). The Shasta County Sheriff went after the girl for taking the goat which had sold for auction for $900.00, an amount less than the California minimum amount to be considered grand larceny. And this was after the purchaser had already said that the girl could have her goat back.
