Let's see, 1984, that would make him a Carter appointment if he was appointed the position by a President. Interesting thing about him, his internship and residency were in internal medicine at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, now known as New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medicine, not an allergist or infectious disease doctor.

One difference between you and me is that it doesn't bother me that the taxes I pay may help someone else. I have no problem with my taxes going into social programs. I don't melt at the idea of someone collecting social assistance.
