Immunity passports are gonna be REALLY hard on poor people. Like Voter ID laws but harder to comply with and applying to everything.
As usual, total misinformation! Vaccine passports are easier to get than voting ID. This is because in many Republican states, the Republicans deliberately try and make voting as hard as possible for people of color and minorities.

With vaccinations, you just have to walk in the door. If you have an email account, you will receive a free vaccine passport in a day. If you do not have access to email, the authorities can mail one to you. If you are of no fixed address, wait 15 minutes and they will print one for you.

As far as traveling to a foreign country, there is nothing another country has that I care to see.
I don't need advice pertaining to my life when their kids are smoking crack, fucking whores and their daddy is screwing the country he is supposed to be 'leading'
Besides I know how to have a balanced budget maybe I should be in charge of the cash in D.C..
      If I can't afford something I don't buy it. I have a 800+ credit rating.
D.C. has never produced a damn thing but they sure can waste tax money.

The vaccine passport can be paper or electronic. A large % of the population has a mobile phone that can display a vaccine passport.

International travel will not miss you.

Your budget skills are so good that you needed SNAP assistance.

PS - Does this mean that you've made time in your schedule to actually get vaccinated? You said you didn't have time a while back....
Tuesday April 6th 11:15 AM. AstraZeneca.

Nova Scotia reports no new cases of COVID-19, 3 variant cases. Only one person is hospitalized!

Unfortunately, two of Canad'a most populous provinces, Ontario and British Columbia are seeing new COVID-19 infections entering a 3rd wave with peaks as high as the second wave, especially amongst younger people. Both the B111 and the P1 variant are rapidly escalating.

President Biden and the head of the CDC are pleading with Americans to continue to wear masks and practise social distancing for another eight weeks. Although vaccinations are way up and deaths are down, infections are once again rising in the USA.

5,000 music fans in Barcelona rock out at experimental concert after COVID antigen tests

Joining an indoor crowd of thousands of people to dance, sing and listen to music might sound like a distant dream at this point in the pandemic.

But for a select group of Spanish music fans, it was their Saturday night.

The government-sanctioned concert in Barcelona was something of an experiment, says Dr. Josep Llibre, an infectious diseases physician who helped develop the plan for the event.

The goal? To see if thousands of people can safely gather together for large events if they're screened carefully enough.
"It's the first time ever in the world that we applied [this] strategy in a big venue — 5,000 people," he said.
Llibre told As It Happens guest host Peter Armstrong that they pulled it off by having every participant take an antigen test the morning of, with their results downloaded automatically to an app on their phones.

It's a strategy he says had already been tested in the city, with a smaller concert back in December.

This time around, just six people tested positive for having a "high viral load" of COVID-19 proteins, and were barred from attending the concert, and had their ticket costs refunded.

Everyone else, who Llibre says were all between the ages of 18 and 65 and had no serious health conditions, headed in to watch the Spanish band Love of Lesbian.

"I would say it was magic: 5,000 people dancing and singing and hugging themselves with no physical distance. It was amazing," he said.

Antigen tests detect viral proteins rather than genetic material, which is what lab-based PCR tests look for.

This means they tend to detect only infectious virus, rather than genetic material that can linger after an infection — providing a snapshot of whether someone is actively infectious now, rather than if they ever were.

In November, a doctor from the Harvard School of Public Health told CBC Radio's Quirks and Quarks that high-quality antigen tests are more than 95-per-cent effective at detecting infectious virus.

"The possibility that we missed someone with COVID?... That's possible. But [someone] with a high viral load, that's very, very unlikely," said Llibre.

To make things safer, concert-goers also wore masks, and organizers used crowd-control measures to prevent queues at coat check or the bar.

"The group was perfect. The behaviour of the people was very, very good," he said.

Now, with the concert over, the experiment continues.

Biden accelerates vaccination timeline but warns against 'reckless behavior'
                        Alexander Nazaryan
                        March 29, 2021, 4:03 pm

WASHINGTON — Echoing the increasingly urgent warnings made by his top medical advisers, President Biden cautioned Monday against “reckless behavior” that could prolong the pandemic.

“We have to give more shots in April than we did in March because we’re in the life-and-death race with the virus that is spreading quickly, with cases rising again,” Biden said at a briefing held at the White House. “New variants are spreading and, sadly, some of the reckless behavior we’ve seen on television over the past few weeks means that more new cases are to come in the weeks ahead.”

At the same time, he once again updated his own vaccination benchmarks, announcing that 20,000 local pharmacies would be empowered to administer the vaccines, bringing the total number of pharmacies giving shots to 40,000. His administration will also open what a White House news release described as “a dozen” mass vaccination sites across the nation.

Some 33 million doses of coronavirus vaccine will be made available this week, in what Biden described as an effort to "try to beat the renewed spread of this virus," a spread that could be accelerated by the lifting of restrictions and the emergence of new strains of the pathogen. Some of those strains are much more transmissible than the original, or “wild type,” strain of SARS-CoV-2.

Biden has been pushing states to expand their vaccine eligibility, having earlier promised that every American adult would be eligible for a vaccine by the end of May. The White House said on Monday that 31 states had expanded eligibility so that 90 percent of Americans would be eligible by April 19.

By that day, Biden said in his White House address, 90 percent of Americans would have a vaccination site within 5 miles of their residence. The White House also said it would fund the federal Department of Health and Human Services with $100 million to “provide the high-intensity assistance” for elderly and otherwise vulnerable Americans “to get these individuals scheduled for and transported to vaccination.”

Biden has tried to frame the vaccination effort as a singularly American success. “My fellow Americans, look at what we have done in the past 10 weeks," he said. "No other country has come close."

That may be true as far as the scope of the effort involved in a country as large and populous as the United States. But, though the pace of vaccination has been steadily increasing, only 16 percent of the American population has been fully vaccinated. That is ahead of some European nations, which have struggled with the vaccine rollout, but far behind Israel, Chile and the United Arab Emirates, which have by far led the world in vaccination rates.

“We aren’t even halfway yet,” Biden acknowledged, trying to negotiate the complex currents of optimism, caution, frustration and yearning that seem to be informing the national mood.

The comment about reckless behavior was clearly a reference to scenes of crowded beaches in Florida, whose Republican governor has accused Biden of being a “lockdowner.” At the same time, Democratic governors have also become less cautious in recent weeks, despite signs that the virus is gathering strength once more.

At one point, Biden pleaded with governors to neither discard mask mandates nor politicize the act of mask wearing. "Please, this is not politics. Reinstate the mandate if you let it down," the president said, in a pleading, forthright tone he sometimes deploys when frustrated with an intractable challenge.

In similar situations, former President Donald Trump’s instinct was to browbeat the opposition. With his lunchpail persona, Biden has tried to frame many of his political positions as rooted in common sense and basic decency.

The president has tried not to feud with governors, but he is also not above showing his frustration with them. At the end of the address, a reporter shouted a question at Biden, asking if “states should pause their reopening efforts.”

Biden does not engage in the kind of back-and-forth with reporters that Trump would routinely conduct on the South Lawn, often as his presidential helicopter, Marine One, roared nearby.

Nevertheless, the president did answer this time: “Yes

The U.S. broke its previous record for most COVID-19 vaccines administered in a single day, with 3.4 million doses reported on Friday, according to the White House.

Why it matters: President Biden on Thursday set a new goal of 200 million doses administered in his first 100 days in office. At the current seven-day average, which increased to 2.62 million daily doses with the new record on Friday, the U.S. would comfortably reach that goal before his 100th day on April 30.
