... not applicable to schools and private businesses. The largest grocery store chain in Florida, Publix, will continue to require its patrons to wear masks once they enter their premises.

Private businesses may or may not enforce the mask mandate.

Johns Hopkins professor tells Americans not to buy the 'fearmongering' that the media and experts are selling as the COVID-19 threat wanes

task for its "absurdly restrictive" guidelines for vaccinated people. The doctor said that, though the CDC claims to be "following the science," the truth is the agency is "still paralyzed by fear."
Now, Dr. Makary has his sights set on the "fearmongering" coming from the media and so-called experts who claim the U.S. won't get to "herd immunity" in these days that are seeing the COVID-19 pandemic waning.
Makary aired his latest grievances with the alleged science followers in the pages of the New York Post on Wednesday with a new op-ed headlined, "Don't buy the fearmongering: The COVID-19 threat is waning
To put things in context, during the mildest flu season in the last eight years, there were 24 million cases, according to the Centers for Disease Control, and approximately 447,000 daily cases during its peak week. By comparison, we're averaging 49,641 daily COVID cases. That same mild flu season resulted in 280,000 hospitalizations. By comparison, current COVID hospitalizations as of May 1 are 34,905.
Of course, he warns that no one should confuse COVID-19 with the flu and that there is a definite risk among susceptible people, but for anyone who is immune and lives where the case-load is low, the threat of COVID-19 "is now defanged."
It's time, he said, to end harmful social isolation and "abandon the goal of absolute risk elimination at all cost."
He also noted that the case-fatality risk of COVID-19 has dropped significantly and that "vaccines will likely provide at least some immunity against variants."
Despite all the positive news, however, U.S. experts can't help themselves and continue to spread fear, he continued:

Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and Bloomberg School of Public Health professor Dr. Marty Makary has shown he's not afraid to call out the nation's government health experts and media when he feels they are being overly cautious when it comes to the handling of COVID-19 — from the lifting of restrictions for the vaccinated to the forced isolation of Americans to the health bureaucracy's lack of common sense.
Just two months ago, Makary took the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to task for its "absurdly restrictive" guidelines for vaccinated people.
Makary aired his latest grievances with the alleged science followers in the pages of the New York Post on Wednesday with a new op-ed headlined, "Don't buy the fearmongering: The COVID-19 threat is waning."

"Americans are being fed a distorted perception of the risks by the media and some experts. They continue to fuel fear by repeating speculation that variants will evade vaccines," he began. "Don't buy it."
The doctor pointed out that about 57% of American adults are vaccinated and around half of the unvaccinated population currently have natural COVID-19 immunity from prior infection, which explains why cases in the U.S. "have been plummeting" — dropping 31% over the last 2 1/2 weeks.
          Then he provided some context:
To put things in context, during the mildest flu season in the last eight years, there were 24 million cases, according to the Centers for Disease Control, and approximately 447,000 daily cases during its peak week. He also noted that the case-fatality risk of COVID-19 has dropped significantly and that "vaccines will likely provide at least some immunity against variants."
Despite all the positive news, however, U.S. experts can't help themselves and continue to spread fear, he continued:
Despite this good news, Americans are being told variants and hesitancy will prevent “herd immunity." Yet noticeably absent from their calculations is the contribution of natural immunity from prior infection or exposure. Dr. Anthony Fauci and [CDC Director] Dr. Rochelle Walensky simply don't talk about the percent of Americans they estimate have natural immunity. That omission creates a perception that the race to 70 to 85 percent immunity is more desperate, resulting in a prolonged timeline, talk of vaccine mandates and an imperative that young kids get the shot.
According to Makary, researchers "have not seen significant re-infections at any concerning rate."
Which means, the doctor reasoned, "Any expert who talks about the path to herd immunity as a simple tally of vaccinations alone – which unfortunately is many – is ignoring data and real-world clinical experience."
The big picture, Makary said, is that the coronavirus is not going away and "herd immunity is not a finish line."
What the U.S. needs to decide, he continued, is "at what point is it no longer a major public-health threat?"
"For most states, it's now," he concluded, adding that it's time to "stop depriving people of their livelihoods and move toward normalcy."
          Malarkey as always

Re: Latest on the Corona Virus

The CDC rolled out heavy-handed guidelines for children and teens planning to attend summer camps last month.....
.....ostensibly to combat spread of COVID-19. Scientists and other experts say the standards ignore the science around COVID-19, and are unnecessarily harsh toward young people, according to experts interviewed by New York Magazine.

JAMA Pediatrics editor-in-chief and epidemiologist Dimitri Christakis said that the rules are “unfairly draconian” and that “keeping children masked for activities like baseball and tennis is ridiculous.”

Columbia University pediatric immunologist Mark Gorelik said that any rule mandating that children must be masked while outside in 90-degree weather is indefensible.
I am supportive of effective measures to restrain the spread of illness. However, the CDC’s recommendations cross the line into excess and are, frankly, senseless.

An infectious-diseases expert with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, the agency run by Dr. Anthony Fauci who has promoted the CDC’s guidelines for summer camps, ripped into the standards, as well.
“Charitably, masking kids at camp outdoors is simply virtue signaling. Requiring kids to continuously wear masks at camps, even while outside playing in the heat, when it provides little additional protection is unfair and cruel to our children.

How can it be that experts on the issue (even one that works with Fauci), are saying that the CDC guidance is Bullshit!??
Even the liberal New York Magazine has experts saying the opposite of what's recommended!

Who do we listen to???? LOL! (I know who the sheep will listen to).

From the beginning of this "pandemic", I've said that the lockdowns/ restrictions/ mandates were purely political. Thousands of experts around the globe have admitted that masks had virtually no effect against the China Virus, and the lockdowns caused more problems for people's physical and mental health than if they would have just let people live their lives like normal.

Why shouldn't we believe these experts, who are in the same fields of study, and have the same tenures/ experience as the "experts" who are held to such high regard by the liberal media??? It would be great to hear one of you liberals explain why only a select few "experts" are the "final word on Covid", while other experts with equal tenures/ experience/ success are slammed as "spreading lies"?.? I'll wait.

Thank God, Cruise ships in my opinion bring out the worst in humanity with self indulgence, gluttony and people pretending to be something they are not for a week or more, I was nagged all three times to go. The only time I found sanctuary was at a poker table with a $10,000.00 buy in, as most of the self indulged fake idiots were too busy siting in a pool full of their urine, while drinking to excess and drunk dancing to overly played Bob Marley songs on the main deck, etc.
At that poker table, I sipped on my Martell XO cognac as J.S. Bach cello sonata quietly played in the back ground, and was able to meet gentlemen from other countries and exchange ideas, thoughts and a little banter for serval hours, to escape the hell of the cruise ship zombies, money well spent. I swore after that cruise, I would never board another in my lifetime. Good riddance, Norwegian.

Since how many lives were saved is an unknown factor that can be debated. There is no question we do know 570,000 American's are now dead because of Covid19.

Fortunately President Biden Plan is working and the US is a much better place than last year at this time.

Florida’s theme parks are starting to ease up on pandemic safety measures put in place when they reopened last summer, including temperature screenings and social distancing in outdoor spaces.

Face masks are still required and crowds are being limited, but Universal, Disney, SeaWorld and Busch Gardens have all announced they will stop screening visitors for temperature before entry. Last month, Dr. Raul Pino, who heads the Florida Department of Health office in Orange County, said he didn’t think the practice was necessary.

Last year at this time we were just getting the grasp on it.. even the WHO and CDC still weren't sure about it. They were saying 2 million would die from it.

The USA needs to understand that neither France nor Canada are our friend. They only like us when they want something. That's the way that I see it.
