Purell and a number of other manufacturers make Professional Surface Disinfectants that are food preparation surface safe without having to rinse. Active ingredient is ethyl alcohol 29.4%, drinking alcohol 58.8 proof. In a pinch and you really need to disinfect a surface cheap Vodka will work. Right now many suppliers are out of stock on disinfectants.

This corona virus is something else so i would try and avoid that.

Wonder how the costumers will react if i get my gloves and mask on before working on the machine.
Whats next a full on hazmed suite?
You are missing the point. This short, inexpensive, easy to perform task is not about you. It is about the customer.

In any office environment, other than some door handles, the copier might very well be the second thing that employees collectively touch the most.

It is not hard to imagine an employee sneezing in front of a copier. Those airborne droplets can survive on a plastic surface for up to 36 hours.

If you were in China right now and walking around without a mask on, you would be considered a health hazard.

You do not have to wear one now, just procure one now and put a couple in your tool kit Approx $1.00 per dust mask. Plus a small bottle of hand sanitizer.

That is what I did today.

I have now read that the mask is more about preventing an infected person from spreading the virus.

It does little to prevent you from catching the virus. That is more about constant hand sanitizing.

                      Re. Disinfect surfaces.
A 50:50 mix of methylated spirits and white vinegar helps kill surface bacteria. You can add oil of clover into the mix to kill mould around moist areas. Place the mixture into a couple of spray or squirt bottles and keep it handy around the house and vehicles. Spray onto hands and door handles etc... I prefer a cup of bleach and a cup of vinegar for household cleaning though.

                      Low on alcohol supply:
All those into home brew will tell you 2kg of sugar water mixed and two spoons of bakers yeast will produce around 1 litre of alcohol. Place the brewed out wash into the freezer over night , and then decant out the alcohol the next morning.

A household steam cleaner with a steam mop can assist with keeping most household surfaces clean: carpets, bench tops, funiture etc... It takes minimal time to wipe hot steam over most surfaces every few weeks.

A vacuum size steam cleaner will set you back around $200. Among other uses, they're handy little machines when it comes to removing problem stains from carpets, velours, vinyls in the house or vehicle. They're absolutely terrific at removing old window tint from glass.

Bill Gates: Coronavirus may be ‘once-in-a-century pathogen we’ve been worried about’

Bill Gates says coronavirus may be '''once-in-a-century pathogen'''

Gates and his wife, Melinda, founded The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in 2000 to help improve world health and combat extreme poverty. The foundation announced Feb. 5 that it would donate $100 million to help find treatments and expand testing for the virus, particularly for poorer populations.

According to Gates, COVID-19 poses a serious threat to the world because it’s far more deadly and contagious than many other deadly viruses.
“First, it can kill healthy adults in addition to elderly people with existing health problems,” he wrote. “Second, Covid-19 is transmitted quite efficiently. The average infected person spreads the disease to two or three others — an exponential rate of increase.” World health leaders say the disease is spread by people who are mildly ill or don’t show any symptoms at all, making it harder to contain and more contagious than other types of viruses.

Fellow billionaire and Berkshire Hathaway Chairman Warren Buffett has also called Gates his “science advisor” and added that he has discussed the coronavirus with him. Buffett said Gates was “bullish” on the long-term outlook for a universal prevention of the disease.

Coronavirus, flu prevention: Face masks offer little protection

I'd take any statistics with a grain of salt at this moment.

Influenza and mumps has been long standing, so you can say it's one in X number, they are long established number.

CHANCE ITSELF WILL NOT DIDCTATE WHO GETS WHAT.

Stats are done after the fact, always always always. But it never says who exactly.

                            Mary

1.5 to 3, so who gets it? One is a carrier, who is?

And why should the rate matter? It not like it will run out of fumes. It maybe slower, but certainly doesn't say its reach is limited.

Wash your hands, but don't over do it.

I mean if you don't live near multicultural places, small town and all... I be looking at coyotes stealing your stuff..

The point is, and it's hard not to be sway either way. Stay current is the least anyone can do.
