Re: The Shining City Upon a Hill
The Buck Stops Here
President Joe Biden admitted on Monday that the collapse of the Afghan government and the Taliban retaking control happened more quickly than the US government had anticipated, insisted that ending America's 20-year war was the correct decision.
But the President refused to back away from his decision to end the American military's combat mission in the nation, where the US had fought the nation's longest war, asserting that the US mission was "never supposed to be nation building" and blaming the Afghan government for the fall.
"I stand squarely behind my decision. After 20 years, I've learned the hard way that there was never a good time to withdraw US forces," Biden said during a speech from the East Room of the White House Monday afternoon. "That's why we're still there. We were clear-eyed about the risks. We planned for every contingency. But I always promised the American people I would be straight with you. The truth is, this did unfold more quickly than we had anticipated."Comment

Re: The Shining City Upon a Hill
An Obama administration adviser called on President Joe Biden to "shake up his national security team" after the Taliban quickly seized control of Afghanistan as the U.S. withdrew its troops.
Brett Bruen, who was director of global engagement in the Obama White House, penned a scathing opinion piece in USA Today headlined, "Ex-Obama adviser: Why Biden must fire his national security adviser for Afghanistan failure."
"President Joe Biden needs to shake up his national security team," Bruen wrote. "The disaster that unfolded in Afghanistan is illustrative of other major issues at the White House. The people, plans and processes the president has put in place to keep America safe are not working."Adversity temporarily visits a strong man but stays with the weak for a lifetime.Comment

Before you answer remember President Biden's plan has resulted in no US troops fatalities, no US troop casualties, no more US pumping a billion $ a month into a deeply corrupt Afghan economy.Comment

Re: The Shining City Upon a Hill
This was going to be a mess no matter who was POTUS. This lays at the feet of Bush, Obama, Trump, and Biden, they all bear some responsibility. The ONLY successful military campaigns that have ever worked is when we leave an occupying force. We have learned nothing from Vietnam or the multiple attempts at troop withdrawals from Iraq.
To those who say we should have destroyed the weapons and equipment ,,,,,wtf are you talking about ? If I give you a gun, train you how to use it, then go home AND TAKE THE GUN, how are you expected to defend yourself ?! Americans should not be laying down their lives when the Afghan people will not do the same. We have spent enough blood and capital.

Re: The Shining City Upon a Hill
This was a deal made by the Trump admin. They even let the Taliban pick and choose who they wanted to be released from prison. In an ironic twist the RNC took down its page about the "historic peace deal" they made with the Taliban over the weekend.

I'm curious if you ever place blame on Biden?
There's runaway inflation.
High gas prices. (Biden just asked OPEC to pump more oil after cutting our supply)
Surrender to the Taliban
Extreme rise in crime across the country.
Those are just the ones that popped in my head. Do you place blame on Biden for any?Adversity temporarily visits a strong man but stays with the weak for a lifetime.Comment

It's interesting to me that Biden is getting killed by the liberal press over his handling of Afghanistan. I didn't think that they had it in them but they are killing him. So are other world leaders. This has badly damaged Biden.Adversity temporarily visits a strong man but stays with the weak for a lifetime.Comment
