SSI ISN'T socialism. Just like Medicare... we've paid into that our whole lives.
Are you honestly trying to tell us that you will only receive from social security what you contributed? That seems unlikely

Who qualifies for a $1,400 stimulus payment under the House bill

American Enterprise Institute estimates that as many as 26 million more people — mainly college students, disabled adults and elderly Americans — will now be eligible for a payment. The check could arrive as soon as next month.

Some will. It all depends on work status past and present.
Those that pass early are S.O.L. and so are they family.
$255 is the max that certain living members can claim. That is ONE payment only.

Now that is a total joke. That $1,390.12 is per month. It is paid on the first Wednesday on or after the day of the month corresponding to your birthday. Considering the average work week for a full time employee is 40 hours and there are actually 52 weeks in a year, that averages to $8.02 an hour which is less than the minimum wage in most states. Then when you consider that less than 2% of the American workforce receives minimum wage of less, the average wage earner receives about 3 times that amount.

and if you think about it 1,390$ is a JOKE if you take into account:

                      a mortgage

                      the increasing cost of electricity

                      gas ( both types )

now that Biden has removed Trump's deal on Insulin there's that increase.

                      food

                      other household expenses.

WE paid into the system our whole working lives.. Congress has been dipping into that coffer for almost the entire time I've been alive. I feel sorry for the ones that have to depend on the Gov't to support them in their latter years.

That's why I encourage young folks to:

                      buy a house

                      build their portfolio

invest in HANDS ON precious metals

                      buy real estate

stay healthy and alert to changing times

                      clothing

My wife receives the spousal benefit and has since she turned 65. It is not automatic. She had to apply to her birth month. Application for Social Security and Medicare parts A and B must be submitted during the 3 calendar months prior to your birth month, your birth month and 1 calendar month after.

Actually that $148 is the cost of Medicare Part B. If you are receiving Part B through a private policy then the SSA will refund the Part B after they receive confirmation each month. The proper amount for 2021 is $163.40. Before signing up with one of those companies you see on TV constantly, talk to a local independent agent. Preferably one who is already on Medicare.
