The story of a Uvalde victim's green shoes captures the White House's attention
Camila Alves McConaughey holds green Converse sneakers. Uvalde, Texas, school shooting victim Maite Rodriguez, who died at age 10, was wearing green Converse shoes when she died.
A pair of green Converse shoes, drawings and personal pictures are just some of the remaining artifacts of the victims of the Uvalde, Texas, school shooting. Actor and Uvalde native Matthew McConaughey and his wife, Camila Alves McConaughey, discussed some of these items during an at times emotional news conference on Tuesday at the White House.
Matthew McConaughey was in Washington, D.C., to call on lawmakers to address gun control and to share details of the 21 victims who died in the shooting.
One of those victims was 10-year-old Maite Rodriguez. A lover of animals and the environment, she dreamed of becoming a marine biologist. She often wore a pair of green (her favorite color) high-top Converse shoes with a heart drawn in marker over her right toes.
... the impact of the AR-15 bullets on Maite's body was so violent that her corpse could only be positively identified by her green shoes.
... an AR-15 bullet blows a huge exit wound on the body of it's victims, repeated day after day in America.
America has to face the fact that it's citizens do not need this firearm conceived as a weapon of war.

Re: The Shining City Upon a Hill
... President Biden and his staff can perform multiple tasks simultaneously. The article you posted has an obvious bias.
The US solar panel industry has been seriously undermined by cheap Chinese imports and this order is designed to stabilize the US industry and expand the local jobs involved.
The border is surging..
So are gas prices and food costs.
We can produce enough oil products for us and a good portion of the EU.
Biden just has to lift restrictions.. allow drilling on federal/public lands without all the permit time wastage.
Open ANWAR.
SO much could be done like maybe.. reinstate EVERY ONE of Trump's policies.

Biden and his staff can't handle one issue at a time that's why it took him 5months to get in gear on baby formula.

... assuming tomorrow President Biden lifted the ban on drilling in the Arctic Natural Wildlife Preserve exactly how long do you think it would take to get all of the Federal permits issued, the State permits issued, the equipment in place, the manpower in place, the exploratory wells drilled, the distribution lines in place and the space reserved at America's over utilized oil refineries to produce gasoline?
Exactly which oil company would make this huge investment required in the face of certain gigantic public anger against them and bad publicity? What would be the cost of this certainly more expensive oil per barrel?
Even if that was to all happen and quickly, like within one year, ANWAR is estimated to only hold the potential of 10 billion barrels of oil, enough to satisfy US demand for two years.
The ex President is more likely to be convicted of criminal charges before then as the Jan 6th committee is set to release it's findings to the US public tomorrow. The Committee's report is almost certain to prove that the ex President plotted a coup to over throw democracy in the USA.Comment

House votes to set minimum age of 21 for buying semi-automatic weapons in response to spate of shootings
The bill has little chance of clearing the Senate
House lawmakers on Wednesday vote to set the minimum age to buy semi-automatic weapons at 21 in response to a string of high-profile shootings.
The legislation passed 223-204, mostly along party lines. It has little chance of clearing the Senate as it pursues negotiations focused on improving mental health programs, bolstering school security and enhancing background checks.
The bill would also prohibit the sale of ammunition magazines with a capacity of more than 15 rounds.
The vote comes after a House committee heard testimony from recent shooting victims and family members, including from 11-year-old girl Miah Cerrillo, who covered herself with a dead classmate’s blood to avoid being shot at the Uvalde elementary school last month.
The House bill stitches together a variety of proposals Democrats had introduced before the recent shootings in Buffalo and Uvalde. The suspects in the shootings at the Uvalde, elementary school and Buffalo supermarket were both just 18, authorities say, when they bought the semi-automatic weapons used in the attacks.
The House bill also includes incentives designed to increase the use of safe gun storage devises and creates penalties for violating safe storage requirements, providing for a fine and imprisonment of up to five years if a gun is not properly stored and is subsequently used by a minor to injure or kill themselves or another individual.
It also builds on the Biden administration's executive action banning fast-action "bump-stock" devices and "ghost guns" that are assembled without serial numbers.Comment

... in America, where guns are more important than children to Republican Senators, Uvalde's pediatrician described the bodies of the children he attended to at Robb elementary school.
Two bodies were decapitated by the force of an AR-15 bullet striking their bodies.Last edited by SalesServiceGuy; 06-09-2022, 03:45 AM.Comment
