It's really sad that these threads have basically become a right wing echo chamber. The amigos post their articles from Newsmax, OAN, Fox etc and they have anyone that could provide an opposing view on ignore. It's a coward who is afraid of defending their position.

Meet the next Speaker of the House from my home state of Lousiana.

Mike Johnson is the GOP's next speaker

His win marked a stunning turnaround after more than three weeks of chaotic limbo in the House.

Republicans finally got their shit together and elected a speaker. Let's see if they can keep it together long enough to actually get something constructive done.
My initial feeling is no, but I hope they prove me wrong.

... the new Republican Speaker of the House is a key Jan 6th election denier. I know the Republicans were feeling a lot of pressure to elect somebody but a Speaker who denies the factual truth three years after the election was awarded is problematic.

Are you talking about all the democrats that told the lie that BLM was a mostly peaceful protest? Look man, you can't be so one sided.

It figures they would elect a maga moron to run Congress.

I truly don't understand why they fear trumpy so much. They must know he is stupid and narcissistic. They must know he has no loyalty except to himself. Right?

PS- Unlike democrats who are only trying to check a box - race, gender, ect., republicans are looking for the best person.

Biden should be very scared of Mike Johnson. He's an impressive man. Everyone should watch the video. He's brilliant. Click link for video.

U.S. GDP grew at a 4.9% annual pace in the third quarter, better than expected

                        • Gross domestic product, a measure of all goods and services produced in the U.S., rose at a 4.9% annualized pace in the third quarter, ahead of the 4.7% estimate.
                        • The sharp increase came due to contributions from consumer spending, increased inventories, exports, residential investment and government spending.
                        • While the report could give the Fed some impetus to keep policy tight, traders were still pricing in no chance of an interest rate hike when the central bank meets next week.

The republican's constant wish for a recession has yet to be fulfilled.

And what percentage of the 4.9 GDP would be because of government spending

You notice that SSG fails to provide a source. That is because it is not the annual GDP, it is for the 3rd quarter only. Also it is an initial estimate. Third quarter is when domestic auto makers bring out their new model lines. For those who like to always buy the latest, that is when they order. For those that when those who want to save on their next new car purchase take advantage of dealer/manufacturer clearance sales.
