    from the jump

    idiom mainly US informal
    Add to word list
from the beginning; from when someone starts to do something or a process starts:

He knew they hated him from the jump.
It's clear from the jump that something suspicious is going on.
The team has established itself as one to take seriously right from the jump.

I'm glad you admit you got it wrong. You first said "from jump", which is wrong but you defended it in another post in which you got it wrong again. Thanks for correcting yourself. I didn't think you had it in you. Bravo!!

From jump copier addict was an idiot You can use "from the jump "or "from jump." Black speech isn't that particular and I've heard them use both. Unlike you, I have many interactions with blacks. When's the last time you had a real conversation with a black person? Be honest.

I think originally it was "from jump street."

Now you're just making stuff up. No one says "from jump".

My High School was probably about 70% black. And I transferred to a school that was 90% black because they had a better football team. I heard all kind of sayings. One in particular was "Catch the Floor."

What does that mean? It means: Get up, I'm about to kick your ass. LOL

I didn't know that. In black culture it came from basketball. The start of every game starts with the jump ball.
