I wonder why the magatrons aren't whining about the rapidly rising food costs. I would have thought it would be front of mind for them. It seemed very important to them before the election.

Egg prices remain as low as $3.69 dozen and stable in Canada. No thanks to becoming the 51st state.

In the USA most egg laying farms are very large industrial affairs where the 100k's of hens are confined to very small spaces their entire lives. This close confinement make it easy to spread any disease.

In Canada, farms are rarely more than 25,000 birds.

In the USA those smaller farms where the birds are able to free range do not get the economies of scale required for low prices but have not suffered from the avian bird flu epidemic.

                      You're a little out of date. https://cagefreelaws.com/california
Allowing chickens to free range exposes them to wild birds which are the primary carriers of avian flu. You will find out when infected wild birds, including Canadian Geese, carry the virus to Canada.

This is outrageous. Chickens should be required to social distance and wear a mask.

There is one thing about that phrase "as low as" it usually means that the prices are currently higher. In fact last month I haf seen eggs for $2.49 at Save Mart. They were not "cage free", they were from a farm in Nevada and they sold out quickly. Last week both Vons/Albertsons had eggs for $2.89 a dozen. They were small grade A and you were limited to one carton. Currently egg farms are recovering as new chicks are getting old enough to start laying and should be back to full production in 2 to 3 months.
