Ok do what you want. But being a ex diabetic of 20+ years i have been on top of things just like my political knowledge.

Don't forget genetics. But agree consistency is key, I don't like counting calories either. I find I have an unbreakable will until about 9pm and then I will eat whatever is not nailed down if I don't have a plan. I am 43 years old though and don't really care if I have a six pack, in fact I am waiting for the old school Clint Eastwood pants to come back into style so I can rock my 5 1/2 pack and hide my remaining shame behind extended waistline.

I've been eating one meal a day for many years. When people hear "one meal per day", they usually look at me sideways because that's not the way it's done normally. However, eating 3 meals per day hasn't been around for that long. It's just something man made up out of thin air.

Fasting has been around since biblical days. People used to eat only when they had food, which wasn't often. And they'd go for a long time without eating again.

It's not good for the body to be eating all those meals every day. I'm talking about 3 meals per day and then all the snacking in between. That's why we have an obesity problem.

You have to be careful when talking about peoples going a long time without eating. There are or were tribes in Africa were rice was a major staple in their diet. If asked when they ate last, the answer would actually be when they last had rice, which could be months.

The three meals per day concept originated with

Englanders who achieved financial prosperity. European settlers brought their eating habits with them to America. Unfortunately, practicing antiquated, meal etiquette often causes you to consume calories when you're not hungry.

C'mon, now. I'm not trying to talk about starvation. I know the Jews were starved to death in the camps and starvation is prevelent in some countries.

I was simply making the point that the way we eat today isn't exactly "normal" if you look at history.

Rice alone is not that nutritional.

Back when that was published there were very few processed foods.

Thus far you said that eating one meal a day would cause me to lose muscle mass. Again, that's not true. Do you disagree with that? Let's start there.

I was wondering where you were headed with that.
I was trying to apply this to Billy, but jobless and lackluster just didn't want to apply.

It all depends on what you eat and how much of it you eat. Protein is important. It is also digested and metabolized slower than other carbs. As you said, avoid refined white table sugar, sucrose. Fruits and other items high in fructose again are metabolized slower and normally do not create problems for those with diabetes or hypoglycemia. Fructose may also be called levulose. Fructose/levulose and dextrose/glucose are both monosaccharides with the same chemical formula, C6H12O6, but different structure, the individual atoms are a different rotation and the carbon ring is different, see below. Fructose can be used directly by the cell to burn for energy but due ti the difference structure cannot be converted into fat by the liver. Sucrose, common white table sugar is a combination of both into a single molecule.

This will be my last word on intermittent fasting because I'm not trying to talk anyone into doing it. I just want to set the record straight.

You say it depends on what I eat and how much of it. That's true whether I eat 1, 2 3, or 10 meals per day. Eating one meal a day has nothing to do with it.

Again, I choose to eat one meal because I find it to be easier to control the amount of food (calories) that I consume. It's that simple.
