I know this will be a touchy topic, please try to set aside your political affiliation when making your comments or opinions, please try to form a non partisan educated response, Snide remarks uneducated remarks solve nothing as we can see from the hundreds of posts where parties are blaming other parties for the current problems. Some of these pardons are minor infractions and are not that big of a deal, however, some pardons are allowing convicted FELONS to go free. Who, what, why? And, why are convicted felons allowed a pardon in our constitutional republic? ( I get it the current prez) I will start, I ask again to please keep it civil, educated and non partisan responses appreciated.

Pardons are for many reasons could be health of the person , or what would be considered an unjust conviction or new evidence etc.... pardons at the Federal don't provide protection from state laws same goes for State pardons. -
Look, at the end of the day the objective is very simple. And that is to achieve justice. As an example, back in the 80's a person convicted for selling weed was being sentenced to 20 year prison terms. And worse. Do we care that it was a Felony?
A presidential pardon, however, is not absolute. A pardon cannot be used in the case of impeachment.
Moreover, only the POTUS has the power to pardon? Why because he's the only elected official that is elected by the entire country.Adversity temporarily visits a strong man but stays with the weak for a lifetime.Comment

For example, " Biden previously and controversially pardoned his son, Hunter Biden, last month after previously insisting he would never take such action. Hunter was set to be sentenced in two separate criminal cases: a felony gun charge and federal tax fraud. The president's son was convicted of three separate felony charges related to the 2018 purchase of a revolver in June 2024. He also admitted nine tax evasion charges in September.

There is current evidence that many of Biden's might not be valid. It appears that many of them were signed and dated in DC when Biden himself was not. He was in Baltimore. There is also discussion as to whether a President can pardon someone for something that they have not yet been convicted let alone something that they have not yet even committed.Comment
