The town I grew up in at one time had a dual water supply system. The ground water had a very high alkaloid content and as such had a similar effect on many peoples urinary system as other alkaloids such as caffeine. There was a third faucet in every kitchen that had water that was brought in from about 45 miles away in rail tank cars. When the state condemned the tank cars, the city was forced to come up with another option. Ultimately we ended up with the first function reverse osmosis plant for the purification of water. There was even a National Geographic article written about it.Comment
