No they are not. You can go to a book store or on the internet and buy anything you want. The same is true for public libraries. Now they may have some sections of the library for publications intended specific age groups. School libraries on the other hand should have age appropriate materials for the age of the children that will be using it.

Nobody said anything about curriculum except you. Teacher's unions control the teachers. And the teachers control what and how the students are taught. And through campaign contributions, the unions control those who set the curriculum. I wonder, how many individuals do you personally know who either are involved in or are retired from education in the US.
